It reminded me a little of Arrow, the same lost in a mystical world, learning martial arts etc but so far it is more believable. SJW's are fun to laugh at, the Asian woman on the show got to do the Action Woman thing and beat up much bigger and mostly white dudes. I guess they will never be happy until every white character has been replaced with a non white one. That's because Arrow took from Iron Fist. Arrows original origins were far different from the show, but Iron Fists origins stayed pretty close to the comics. very true, however (I never read any of the Iron Fist comics) as soon as I saw his origin story I thought of The Champions, a very good tv series from the late 60s and before Iron Fist inception. The Champions - During their first mission as a team, their plane crashes in the Himalayas. They are rescued by an advanced civilization living secretly in the mountains of Tibet, who save their lives, granting them perfected human abilities, including powers to communicate with one another over distances by ESP (telepathy), to foresee events (precognition), enhanced five senses and intellect and physical abilities to the fullest extent of human capabilities

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds Iron Fist the weakest show out of the 4 Defenders so far. The only thing that kept me watching this series is Claire and it's connection to The Defenders. Danny Rand was so very frustrating to watch with his short temper and complete idiotic things he did at times. I give DD 10/10 JJ and LC an 8/10 and this show a 7/10 because Danny Rand shirtless and Claire Colleen and Ward were the only things entertaining to keep this show afloat for me. You're not the only one. I find Danny to be boring, whiny and humourless. He is like a kid that wants to be accepted by someone, and is willing to overlook everything they have been doing to him to get it. I am on episode 4 and i can't believe he has been gullible enough to accept everything Ward's father has told him, hook, line and sinker. I also can't believe that he asked Ward why he had pushed him out of the window- duh! I stopped watching the rest of the episode so I could come on here and complain. I am actually starting to feel sorry for Ward more than I feel any empathy for Danny. I hope it improves in the next episode or so because I mostly love Marvel's TV shows - until now. Edit: I've finished the episode and I wanted to say that the fight scenes are unconvincing. I find it incredible that he's all palsy now with Ward and Joy after what they did to him. I understand forgive and forget but he would have to be very stupid to not have doubts about their intentions. Having said all that - I really like Colleen. Edit II: can someone please tell me how to make my post visible again and remove the spoiler thingy?

The origins aren't hugely original so I'm not sure if it's fair to say Arrow took from Iron Fist.

I'm five episodes in and I'm liking it so far. I don't find it slow at all.

I thought it was decent. Not perfect, but not terrible, considering it was rushed into production from all accounts. The race debate has been blown out of proportion, imo, as even today I saw new articles about how Danny should have been Asian. The show's been out for an entire week. What's the point of still writing articles repeating what has already been said multiple time for several months now. It's gotten to the point where I looked for news on The Defenders and someone was wondering if Iron Fist's inclusion would destroy the show and if he should be somehow edited out of the miniseries. They're just being bullies at this point.
The audience score on RT is in the 80's and apparently it got higher ratings than all the other Netflix shows besides Luke Cage.

There is no race debate, just journalists who already agree talking to one other.

If Bruce Lee were alive today and in his heyday then I would say yes! please let Danny be Asian! Though I have changed my mind regarding the show somewhat - I like it more than I did when I wrote my earlier post, I still thought the actor playing Danny wasn't believable as a fighter. His moves were without power or strength - or so it seemed to me. I kept seeing Bruce Lee doing similar moves in my mind and thinking how much more convincing it would have been. Though I understand that Danny was supposed to be naive and innocent, I thought the actor's expressions most of the time were simply petulant. Still, I did like it at the end and am glad Colleen didn't get killed off.

I have about two episodes to go. I like the world, but I don't like the storylines. The show had some potential in the first three episodes. I liked Danny for the most part, and I was interested in his attempts to reunite with his friends. But the show goes downhill fast once he gets his company back. He's way too hot-tempered. Also, I like that he's altruistic, but it's like he's a five-year-old. He doesn't understand basic business operations, and his inability to consider other sides of a position is frustrating to watch.
The writing is also frustrating for me. The middle episodes, like most shows today, get bogged down in contrived melodrama. Things happen just to provide material for episodes rather than because it's the natural course the narrative would take.
The one good thing about this episode is that it has prompted me to start watching old Kung Fu movies from the 1970s. The fighting and editing was so much better in those films.

I am watching Daredevil again right now. I must say, it is SO much better. I actually really enjoyed Iron Fist. However, watching Daredevil now made me realize how much higher the quality is. Even Season 2, which is a step down, is light years better.

Daredevil is the cream of the crop. The other shows are ok for what they are but Daredevil sets the bar.

Finished Iron Fist a few days ago. It's not the best Marvel/Netflix show, but it's not bad either. I think a lot people are overreacting with some of their criticism of the show. It has it's problems, but I think those problems could be fixed in a second season.

I didn't really dislike season 1. However, when THE DEFENDERS was released, I had to do a huge mental effort to remember what had happened in this show... even though THE DEFENDERS was released only a few months later. So... it wasn't bad, just unmemorable.
Is season 2 unmemorable? I just finished it, so only time will tell. However, I can judge other aspects. The pacing was terrible, despite being 10 episodes long instead of the usual 13. There weren't a lot of bottle episodes, but 1 is enough for 1 season. The action choreography improved and Jessica Stroup's performance stood out more (even though Jessica Henwick has been the MVP since the beginning).
