I don't go to the movies much anymore but after seeing "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)" on blu-ray, I kicked myself silly by not viewing it beforehand at the cinema. This time, I'm hoping I won't repeat the same mistake. The film is slated for July. Unfortunately, Jason Clarke isn't back so hopefully, Woody Harrelson makes it worthwhile. I'm sure he will.

I'm definitely hyped for it! Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was one of my favourites from 2014.

If Matt Reeves nail this one this will become one of the absolute best trilogies of all time.

This and Dunkirk are the movies I'm most excited about this Summer.

The first two movies (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) were fantastic and the trailer looks great. Really hyped for this one

Yeah the film looks great. I'm still not feeling great about the title pattern for this franchise. I still believe the tiles should have gone Rise of the Apes, Dawn of the Apes. War of the Apes all leading into Planet of the Apes. I hate that they every chapter in the franchise has to rely on name recognition of the original movie. I know the sequels to the original did this too. I just hoped that after rise they would move beyond that title structure.

The titles are definitely too long but they clearly do want the "Planet of the Apes" part in there because that's what everybody recognizes.

When Tom Rothman was at FOX, he wanted the titles to be consistent, and to match up with the "old" films, all of which contain the phrase "...Planet of the Apes"

I wonder if this will be the last movie or if a 4th movie will be made.

If Matt Reeves nail this one this will become one of the absolute best trilogies of all time. Best, maybe. Popular? No enough. These movies are extremely well done, but the need more respect. They need to be more popular, because they are absolutely fantastic.

I don't know why you even brought up popular when you responded to me as I never even mentioned it but you can't forget that Dawn of the Planet of the Apes DID gross over $700 million worldwide and the first one grossed $481 million. It doesn't really feel like a hugely popular series but they are making money and it seems like this new one is gonna do even better.

Because if were going to call something one of the best of all time, it's fair game to evaluate, discuss, and analyze all aspects of its impact on its respective industry. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time, but is that indicative of its place in people's hearts and minds? Is it the "best" ever? I am a big fan of the new Ape movies. I think they are extremely well done. I definitely think it was one of the best trilogies in recent years and can even agree with you that it is likely one of the best all-time. But no one is talking about it. It's standing in pop culture is minimal and deserves more respect than it gets imo.

I wonder if this will be the last movie or if a 4th movie will be made. I was just wondering that myself. I don’t know why, but I got this feeling that if they do continue with more movies that any after they one will be when it truly is a “Planet of the Apes ” – meaning it is long after the trilogy. Caesar will be dead, the apes will have taken over, and it will be post-apocalyptic like the Charlton Heston movie.

Looks intense. Saw both previous movies in theaters and didn't regret it.
