It's not my kind of movie but I went to see it with a friend who loves romcoms.
I get that it's pure fantasy and that's fine. But even fantasy has to have a certain plausibility.
On what planet would a hot millionaire pilot pursue a widowed housewife 10 years his senior? I'm not denigrating Diane Keaton. She's in decent shape for 72. But no way no way no way would Andy Garcia, who is 62 and looking fine, be attracted to her. Why couldn't they have given her a love interest closer to her age and more her economic class? A hot millionaire pilot would be with a good looking 40 something.

Sorry, I disagree. I think Keaton was terrific (and I don't think her character looked all that old), and in fact I loved the whole film. My take on Andy Garcia's character was that he might have tried younger women and simply wanted a change. Besides, he may have been attracted to a woman who obviously loved to read.

A) There are men who purposely seek older women or simply their seniors and B) even if Garcia was not into "older ladies" who says he couldnt fall for a woman thats different than he would normally date? It happens. You are right, it is not very likely. But it is certainly plausible. I dated someone 14 years my junior, as well as someone who is a hot millionaire (and I am nowhere near their standards both economically and looks-wise). Sure I am not 72 but I can see how people can date outside of their presumed or even actual preferences. It totally happens. Once in a blue moon but it does. The movie was shit, but for other reasons btw, have you seen "Somethings gotta give"? If so, what did you think about a super hot young doctor (Keanu Reeves) dating a 70 year old Diane Keaton there? I thought they had a Great chemistry and it totally worked. and it was even more of age difference there.

No, I've never seen it.
However in Moonstruck Cher was 42 and Nicholas Cage was 24 when they played a couple. It was not only believable, it was romantic as heck. Mind you, Cher was at her best looks-wise. She really was beautiful in that movie.

I liked it, and I'm totally not the demographic for it (28 yo African-American male lol). Undemanding watch with some good laughs, semi-forced end drama, 3rd act length problems.

I thought Keaton looked good in the movie. Otherwise, kind of a "meh" experience for me with few laugh out loud moments.

Co-starring Craig T. Nelson Their storyline was the worst of the four. Murphy Brown was the only one I enjoyed.
