Pulp Fiction....Marvin deserved to get killed. He was their inside guy right? But he forgot about a dude with a gun in the back that couldve gotten Vince and Jules killed. Marvin deserved to get popped.
Heat....for Neils crew being such professionals they rely on unknown accomplices throughout the entire movie and ignore all the red flags that tell them to pull out now. That's probably part of the theme of it...Neils crew always chasing that dragon to the point where they finally get burned but everything from Waingro to Trejo not showing up yet still going through with the heist to not dealing with Van Zant once they realize he's going to be a problem. They leave themselves open to complication time and time again.

For 'Heat' (1995), I think it's meant to suggest that Neil McCauley is getting older and his instincts aren't as sharp as they used to be.
