I have heard it might be a dystopic world hence why it seems so disparate and empty in all flashbacks which is intriguing actually.

That's intriguing. Maybe it's like the world of RPO, just a craptastic overpopulated collection of ramshackled dwellings. People that can afford to escape do so via Westworld.
