The article suggests that DCEU's comparative impatience has led it to being more reliant on ensemble films instead of solo stories in order to play catch-up with Marvel. It's not an unfair complaint but I don't think it's automatically a superhero film's Achilles' heel if we hadn't been already introduced to each individual character.
Hell, the first X-MEN film was an ensemble feature with a dozen characters and did fine. As did the first GOTG which is one of my favorite superhero movies precisely because it knows when to give backstory but then just let the movie trot along. If Birds of Prey or whatever future team-up they have in mind accomplish this, I've no complaints. They don't have to reinvent the wheel here.
