How can anyone pick blank-faced Ryan Gosling? I have always been of the opinion that Gosling's performances have been the perfect example of the Kuleshov Effect rather than any talent of his own and this film, failing to create his performance through editing, reveals that there is nothing beneath his vacant visage. That's such a variable choice because a lot of them were great. Since no one's mentioned him yet, I'll say Dave Bautista in the opening. He did the troubled replicant well and it's possibly one of his best performances in a movie.
Otherwise, I gotta go with Ford.

Kuleshov EffectI disagree very much. He is able to convey so much emotion and thought in such a subtle way. What you see as vacant visage, I see as deep and meaningful expression. |
