Lets all just stay cautiously optimistic like with Wonder Woman...

I never thought I'd see the day come wear Jason Mamoa would headline a film where he was -- hands down -- the absolute best actor in the entire cast. He's come a very long way as an actor.

These days, yes. In his prime, no. Have you seen The Florida Project? He's pretty fantastic. I haven't but, so much of the attention goes to the child actor on that film that I assumed it was another supporting-role paycheck gig for Dafoe.

This movie NEEDS to be good. Not just because DCEU could do with more good movies, but because it's also the first underwater movie since, I don't know, the Abyss?

I mean, I like a number of Wan's films but I get the feeling that Atlantis might not be as grand as it should be. James Wan is usually better with more intimate scope than grand, sprawling ones. But who knows, I hope I'm wrong because I do want this film to be good.

The Entertainment cover is garbage but the actual images are great.
The face off pic of Moama and Patrick Wilson is fantastic.
Call me crazy but I think Wan is gonna deliver here.

Yeah overall this looks pretty good so far. Btw, anyone remember that publicity poster with Aquaman that said 'UNITE THE SEVEN'? Well that's the political situation in the context of the movie;similar to the nine realms in the Thor movies. Arthur Curry is tasked to unite the seven (undersea?) kingdoms.
In an interview with EW, Wan explains what makes his film different from the rest of the DC Universe. With all of the previous DC films set mostly in cities, it is the underwater setting that plays a key role. There are seven different underwater kingdoms which give the director a whole new world to invent and play in.
The water world my movie takes place in is so separate and so far apart from previous DC movies it’s like I’m making my own sci-fi fantasy film. This is a whole new underwater world nobody has seen before in live action.

His films get progressively more sophisticated with each new release. And his no bullshit approach is exactly what the character needs --- mind you, I'm no Aquaman expert.

He should give up the superhero roles, and should go to the action movie genre. Hollywood needs more action actors.
