‘Lucha VaVoom’ (2009, Documentary – Kayleigh Fischer)
A look at the weird and wonderful world of musical burlesque wrestling promotion Lucha VaVoom in Los Angeles, California which is co-produced by Rita D’Albert of influential rock outfit The Pandoras.
“For the seven of you who've never heard of Lucha VaVoom, the name says it all:
Lucha — meaning "fight" in Spanish, from the phrase lucha libre, a term used to describe Mexican professional masked wrestling, a combat sport that can be traced back to 1863 and developed out of the Greco-Roman version by probable tough guy Enrique Ugartechea.
VaVoom — meaning "titties."
But it's so much more. Throw in professional comics, and you have what has been called a "nonstop, action-packed scream-a-thon" where the Mexican masked wrestlers pounce and pulverize, while in between matches stunning professional burlesque dancers beguile and bowl over the crowd. For the price of one ticket, you get a heaping portion of "sexo y violencia."
Rita D'Albert and Liz Fairbairn are Lucha VaVoom's co-producers. The pair met when D'Albert was producing the successful burlesque show Velvet Hammer, where Fairbairn designed and made costumes.”

'Here To Be Heard : The Story Of The Slits' (2017, Documentary - Willam E. Badgley)
The journey of punk band The Slits, from nights playing the Roxy Club in Covent Garden, London to book signings for guitarist Viv Albertine's memoir 'A Typical Girl' (2016) which was named Rough Trade Records' book of the year.
'Here To Be Heard : The Story Of The Slits' is a welcome documentary about punk group The Slits who infused their jerky, stop-start rhythms with a strong Caribbean flavour.
"You could write a lengthy essay about the Slits’ landmark LP Cut based on the semiotics of its cover alone. Three young women stand wearing only loincloths in a Surrey rose garden – a sight to delight any shock-marketing executive. But they are covered almost entirely in mud, possessing the unmistakable attitude of warriors; the aesthetic much closer to National Geographic than lad mag. Titillation is not on offer, a fight might be. This perhaps accounts for the album’s relatively comfortable passage into the world. While Never Mind the Bollocks’s mild cuss word had prompted an obscenity trial – they were primmer times – no such bother attended Cut when it reached shops in 1979, despite its multiple provocations."
