He played the Quint character in Grizzly (1976). Actually I would say he was the Hooper character. Andrew Prine was the Quint character.

Do you think Richard Jaeckel and Aldo Ray could have played brothers?

I'd have to say Jaeckel was definitely the Quint of Grizzly, he was the hunter and bear expert. Prine was just the chopper pilot with a few snarky lines, more like Hooper.

He was the bear expert the way Hooper was the shark expert.

Prine just piloted the chopper, his role was smaller, seemed Hooper-ish, IMO.

Prine told the story about the man eating grizzlies like Quint told the story about the Indianapolis. When Prine died he was squeezed by the bear and blood spewed out of his mouth like when Quint died. And the helicopter was the Orca of the movie.

I can see now why you think that, it seems to me they blurred the characters from Jaws into these two characters, to avoid a lawsuit? This is just how I saw it when I saw it. I'll probably see it again someday.

Good actor, perfect casting for certain kinds of roles. Jaeckel was in a ton of war movies, from Guadalcanal Diary through The Dirty Dozen, and many more along the way. On screen, as a type, early in his career, he was sort of the bad fair haired boy compared to Martin Milner's good one. These two actors seemed to have near parallel careers in this regard till Milner crashed through (as a TV star) on Route 66. Jake had the animal magnetism going for him, Marty had the good karma.
