So you acknowledge that her telepathy was a retcon? Can you site the original run issue were it was said she had the potential to be a more powerful telekinetic? No. How she got her telepathy was retconned. How do you explain the fact that there is no mention of her being a telepath or using telepathy for the first five years of the original run? It seems to me that not only how she got her telepathy was a retcon but, additionally, her ever having it in the first place was also a retcon.

Well, to be fair, Magneto wasn't Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's father until 16 years later. People still hold on to that. It's called retconning. Writers do it to enhance a story. Except the Phoenix Force wasn’t created to enhance the story. It was a plot device to bring Jean back. Like Cable’s backstory which is also being ignored in the films. You contradicted yourself. Adding more to a story is enhancing it. Saying that Phoenix is now a cosmic entity is adding some detailed backstory to a character. They actually changed Cable's backstory all around and cherry picked points of the character to create an all new character. They basically streamlined the character and had him married to Aliya Jenskot with Hope as their daughter.

Improving the story was not the point of the retcon.

Right and wrong at the same time.
