I wasn't allowed to watch a lot of horror films as a child, but I do remember being frightened by Final Destination and by the Sixth Sense.
EDIT: I hadn't seen Child's Play, but my aunt had a life-sized Chucky doll that she would hide in various parts of my room. I was terrified of the damn thing.

Not really 'scared' but slightly bothered me...
The 'dream' scenes from Prince of Darkness at the end of the movie The Prowler when they are showing the bodies, the one in the shower for some reason The priest from Happy Hell Night the nursery rhyme from Ghosthouse

When a stranger calls (79) - I was watching this on tv with the babystitter...
Story short: The babysitter was scared out of her mind, she ran off & left us frighten, alone & unsupervised & I did not pick the up the phone for weeks...

Salem's Lot (1979).....I had nightmares upon nightmares about that kid floating and scratching on the window with his glowing eyes. It is now one of my favorite movies and books. Dawn of the Dead (1978) another nightmare inducer but it spawned my love for the zombie subgenre. Silver Bullet (1985) Rawhead Rex (1986) It (1990) God I love horror movies

The original Exorcist movie . . . I'm not a kid anymore, but I still think its scary. What scares me about that movie and those like it is since I believe in God, I believe in Satan as well. And, of course the Exorcist is a movie about evil spirit possession. I think that making and watching these movies create possibilities for evil spirits to spread. People who make these movies and those who watch them will say, this is just make believe, this is just entertainment - but evil is real. It does not restrict itself to the limits we place on it. You might think you are watching a make-believe entertainment, but real evil can use it as a vessel to enter you. In other words, you can be unwittingly exposing yourself to real evil when you watch such movies.

I agree it is underrated. I gave it a 7/10. I watched this one the other night for the first time, and I enjoyed it. The cheesy acting and bad English dubbing only made it more entertaining, plus there are some genuine scary moments involving that creepy clown doll.
