I wanna see it just to see how bad John Travolta hams it up.

Travolta actually is pretty sublime, juggling charm, paniche, and a suppressed rage very well. Preston, Vince, and Keach are all solid as well, Spencer Lofranco on the other hand, yikes he sucked.

It's another mob movie. If the acting is shit, then the movie is gonna be a nosedive. Gotti (1996) was a good movie.

I've never heard of Spencer LoFranco, but if he's the main reason the movie is tanking, then this movie never had a chance.

I mean he just felt distracting, especially as he is featured more in the second half becoming a man to be reckoned with(eyeroll) he also had some shoddy line delivery. The movie itself felt like it was trying too much to be too cool for school.

I will say I had no real idea how idolized Gotti was, geez some people really were naive enough.

Didn't know much about his son, but John Sr. was the Teflon Don.

I read that Pitbull (who did the soundtrack) plays a few of his songs in the film despite the scenes taking place in the 80's. It's interesting that a Latin rapper was chosen to do the soundtrack for a film about an Italian mobster who in addition to be a murderous criminal, was also quite racist. Listen to transcripts of an imprisoned Gotti liberally using the n-word and other vile epithets for proof.
I've also heard the film preaches that Gotti and his family were actually good people who were unfairly persecuted by a corrupt justice system?
This film has a fascinating trainwreck aura about it that makes me want to see it.
