Recently Macaulay Culkin has said in multiple interviews about his new "Bunny Ears" podcast that he would be interested in a "Mature Home Alone" follow up to the 2nd installment.
Would you be interested in an acclaimed director and writer combo coming in and making a 3rd Home Alone (sort of like Halloween) ignoring Home Alone 3 or even ignoring Home Alone 2, just acknowledging the original.
The sequel would be in the vein of that digital short he did for YouTube. Where Kevin has PTSD, maybe other psychological disorders due to his experiences as a kid. It could be a psychological thriller?
Thoughts?

Yeah. It could be like a Straw Dogs remake starring Culkin.

It should be a thriller now, instead of a comedy, and Kevin now has agoraphobia.

too bad the dad died. i'd have loved the whole family to return in some capacity and it to be set at christmas time. an adult home alone is basically die hard. have kevin be a business executive that saves his coworkers from a robbery turned hostage situation using his knowledge and ability to use everyday surroundings as weaponary defense.

He wouldn't be traumatized, that's for sure. You can clearly tell he had a smile on his face while tormenting those burgulars. Otherwise, I'm not so sure about that. The darker tone would be way too different, albeit fresh, from the other films' more light-hearted tones. It just wouldn't fit into the series. Besides, we don't really need another at all.

So, maybe he's an antisocial sociopath? He learned he loves hurting people after those events?

aka Culkin said to be interested in "money". True, but it could be worse. At least it would be something unique. He's a good actor and I think an R rated home alone follow up for millennials grown up for nostalgia could be great I wouldn't want a lame family film sequel.

Being home alone as an adult........ That movie would make no sense at all. More like a psychological thriller where the events from his childhood traumatized him and he's messed up in the head as an adult. Isolating himself from society. A social introvert.

I simply highly doubt he'd concave the legacy of Home Alone as Christmas classic by painting his lead character as a pained adult ever since. Nearly 30yrs gap no less.
He'd have to be 'home alone' out in pleasant Montana or something for it not to be fully psychotic.
