Golem is pronounced GO-lem, not GOL-lum. It's a British horror mystery with Bill Nighy and Olivia Cooke that came out last September. I've been waiting to discuss it with someone. I think it's really good but VERY disturbing. The identity of the villain so don't click if you care about spoilers.

No, but it's on my to do list... Trailer looks similar in style to 'From Hell', and 'The Raven'.

I guessed the identity of the villain quite early on.

For a while, I was afraid she might get away with it. I've heard a coupla different theories about why Kildare destroys her confession at the end. One is he's afraid of looking like an idiot for having convinced himself that her husband was the Golem. I don't like that theory. He came across as far too decent to care about something like that. The other is that he wants to deprive the Golem of what she wants the most, for her name to be written in stone in the temple of fame for all time. I do like that theory but it raises some intriguing moral dilemmas. Shouldn't she be exposed anyway? I mean, that way, her victims get true justice. Yes, their killer is dead anyway but it should be known who really killed them. And doesn't Dan have a right to know the truth that the girl he cared for so much was really a sadistic, vicious monster who murdered his friend, the clothes seller, and his friend's entire family? And what about her husband? No matter how much of an asshole he may or may not have been, he doesn't deserve to be falsely denounced as the Golem.

I read somewhere of the theory that he doesn't want her to get the notoriety that she wants, which is understandable. But, as you said, Dan should have been told the truth. Not sure about the victim's families, and I'm of two minds regarding her husband: yes, he deserves exoneration, even if he's dead, but would the pain for the families be an lesser, if the true murderer's identity were known?

I do remember it was pretty early in the film though. For me, it was when she said, "Little Victor's death gave me life." That was when I thought, oh god, not her. I really didn't want it to be her. Because of the children. If the Golem had turned out to be a man, I'd have been fine with the film. But the idea of a woman sadistically killing small children I just found too upsetting. I mean, look at the glee on her face in this shot, She's really gonna enjoy killing them. And the way they left it up to your imagination what she does to them... *shudders*

Kind of "meh" towards it. Douglas Booth was my favorite part.

Just watched it tonight. It was a decent old Victorian murder-mystery. Somewhat predictable in its outcome, but the performances of Bill Nighy and namely Olivia Cooke kept me intrigued. When it came to the horrific descent into the killer’s reveal, while foreseeable, those scenes still manage to have some visual impact.
