It's a perfect one for these times. The idea that 'equality', in terms of innate talent/ability/other gifts (as opposed to the Constitutional ideal of equality under the law) is something that can or should be imposed or regulated from outside so that no snowflake ever need feel slighted is one that's becoming all too disturbingly close to reality in our present social context. I can't help but think that, were Vonnegut alive and publishing in this era, he might have had a very hard go of it in getting this story to the light of day.

We're living it. Asians are being held back because they're too smart in favour of less qualified people.
