I have never seen Meet The Spartans Epic Movie Haunted House 1 & 2 - mostly because both of these are a ripoff of scary movie Fifty Shades of Black The Comebacks

In my mind, the genre has been slightly above life support thanks to two individuals with the first names of Aaron and Jason. Over reliance on pop culture figures/events that have little to do with the genre of movie or plot being spoofed or satirized. The only spoof movie I've seen that I kinda sorta liked was Walk Hard.

Not Another Teen Movie was one of the better ones made in the past 20 years. Especially if you grew up with Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, etc.
Scary Movie 3 was pretty classic as well. I still love the 8 Mile parody in that one.
Meet the Spartans has its moments.

The last decent one ever made was Robin Hood Men In Tights.

A parody is dead because filmmakers didn't know how to do it properly.
Take Blazing Saddles for example. That is a great example of how to use Western Genre tropes and parody the entire genre.
Robin Hood Men in Tights. Another great example. They parody Robin Hood Prince of Theives and a few other older Robin Hood films and it's perfect. The problem is, the 'Disaster Movie' or 'Date Movie' just became random, incoherent skits put together for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It wasn't a real story.
I know Robin Hood Men in tights is a comedy, but it has a central character, distinct acts, story development, and so on. It uses Robin Hood tropes as the story goes along.
See the difference? When you are mocking something, you have to do it in a way that the film is one story, but poking fun at it's source material. I think Scary Movie did it best in modern cinema, but it wasn't perfect. You stick to about 2 or 3 films you are parodying, and use those gags. When you try to parody 15 movies and it seems like 9 short skits, and random stuff (like in Date Movie when they parody a Hardees bikini commercial) it was out of place, didn't make any sense, it was like an SNL skit in the middle of a film. They just put as many pop references in the movie to get laughs, however, a kid in 2018 could watch Date Movie and be like, "I don't get it.". If a kid watches Robin Hood Men in Tights in 2018 or Blazing Saddles, they can laugh, because the joke is funny within the context of the film.

Scary Movie and Not Another Teen Movie worked very well. Most of them stink though.

What We Do in the Shadows was a fantastic parody of both the vampire genre and the docu-drama.
Of course, it wasn't Hollywood.
