This is mine. I wish Trump would tweet it sometime.
Since this has been moved over to the RFS board, I will make the comment that I first posted on this topic: Now, I'm not big on Bible verses but my favorite amendment to the Constitution of the United States is Amendment 1, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the right of the people peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. I'm getting a bit weary of people trying to use the bible to keep out immigrants. What do you think? This post loses its pizazz on this board. It was a parody of libs who mock religion in one thread and then turn around and criticize people for not following Jesus supposed teachings, which they always badly butcher or misinterpret.

So, you are for open borders? Heck no. So, your OP was NOT a parody, you support Trump and want the wall built? And you used a bible verse to get that across.

Just like I supported Obama before him, and W and Clinton. And it was obviously a joke given the meme picture and font and all. That's a pretty big giveaway.

Here's another exchange about immigration: Sessions invokes the Bible to defend separation of families at the border
Jun 18, 2018 at 9:31am Post by rachelcarson1953 on Jun 18, 2018 at 9:31am There is a quote from a character in a novel, regarding the bible: you can find whatever you want in it... Love thy neighbor or slay him with the jawbone of an ass. One of the many reasons I'm not a Christian.

I always like it when they say 'Amen' because that means that the prayer shit at a wedding or funeral is over.

I always like it when they say 'Amen' because that means that the prayer shit at a wedding or funeral is over. Not always; have you ever been to a Southern Baptist funeral? It goes on and on and on.... literally an all-day affair. But, do you think the Trump-supporting OP was joking when he made that first post about the wall with a bible verse? Or did it seem to be his true opinion.

Love thy neighbor. A verse that is lost on a lot of conservative Christians...
Ill say this... liberals twist what "love" actually means at times.
because in a basic sense... if someone really loves someone, then their ultimate goal is for that person to get to heaven. so calling someone out for living a sinful life is actually a good thing, not a bad thing. because your trying to correct them to get them back onto the narrow path that leads to Heaven. but the mindset of some people who think they can do pretty much whatever they want, outside of murder, and still reach heaven is false as it's still possible for one to end up in hell without committing murder.
I think that can be applied to that whole gay thing as they always talk about 'love' but many of them are living in sin. so while Jesus Christ is forgiving, He's not going to act like sin is no big deal where people continue to live in sin without the slightest need to change their lives and cut back on sin etc. with that said... those people who are violent against gay people are clearly wrong, especially those doing it in God's name. like those people who say 'God hates f*gs' etc as they are incorrect as He still loves them but wants them to love Him back by following His commandments etc.
trust me... conservative values are more inline with God than liberal views are (with abortion being one of the major issues). with that said... this does not mean that all conservatives are good and that all liberals are bad, as we are ALL sinners, but there are many key moral areas liberals get wrong (abortion/gay agenda/euthanasia etc) which makes conservative views more inline with God (i.e. The Holy Trinity(Father/Son(Jesus Christ)/Holy Spirit)) by default on paper. I think for someone who follows God a bit more seriously will find that conservative values are better than liberal views (this does not mean all liberal viewpoints are bad but they are wrong in some major key moral areas like abortion etc).
with that said... I am not God, so I can't determine who makes it to heaven or who ends up in hell. but I do make a legitimate argument above.
just some thoughts

The closest I came to Baptists 'nonsense' was a work colleague who would not allow her grandchildren to go and see any of the Harry potter movies because of 'witchcraft' or some such nonsense. I have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE what an American Trump supporter would think, or if, in fact they do, at all.

just some thoughts Ya think? If there is no heaven, then this is moot. How about people loving people for being decent human beings, and not judging others by rules and laws that are hypocritical?

One of my dearest friends, an atheist since, well, forever, came to my father's funeral to be supportive of me, another atheist in a sea of believers. I joked that I needed to get her a T-shirt that said " I Survived a Southern Baptist Funeral, and all I got was this Crappy T-shirt. It really did last all day. My dad was a good man, a great dad, but if he had just not been indoctrinated in magical thinking as a child...

gozYeah, it's nice if people in general get a long, as we need to keep things civil (which is asking a lot for some on the left nowadays), but there are some topics that are quite sensitive and since many Christians know God is real, then naturally they are going to form a lot of their choices/decisions based around that which will have a effect in politics to. Fr. Chad Ripperger (a Catholic priest/exorcist) also says to avoid the Harry Potter books in this 5 min audio clip on YouTube... www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGNaruEYOE0

My favourite Bible verses are all those in the Bible on abortion, and where Jesus condemns homosexuality.
