.......some strange "space virus" from the moon, what would have happened to them? For those who recall, all three of the Apollo 11 astronauts upon returning to Earth were immediately 'quarantined' in (I believe) a modified AirStream trailer until they could be examined and deemed "safe" to be re-exposed to the world (though weren't they, and the inside of their space capsule exposed to Earth's atmosphere the minute the hatch was first re-opened, more or less making this whole "exercise" useless?). But what would have happened if they had actually come back with some kind of strange 'contamination'? Is it possible they would have had to remain quarantined for the rest of their lives (and if so, would that have immediately put an end to any further trips to the moon)? Also, were all Apollo crews after 11 subjected to this same exercise, or was it never done again, once Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were checked out and considered "safe" for the outside world ?? NASA would lie and say they died and THEN they would be kept under constant watch for the rest of their lives.

So, if the Apollo 11 astronauts had come back with some strange "space virus" from the moon, what would have happened to them? This very scenario inspired Michael Crichton's novel "The Andromeda Strain", which was very faithfully adapted into a movie. Although somewhat dated today, it remains an excellent film and a terrifyingly real portrayal of contamination from outer space. Also, were all Apollo crews after 11 subjected to this same exercise, or was it never done again, once Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were checked out and considered "safe" for the outside world ?? According to Wikipedia, "Four Mobile Quarantine Facilities (MQFs) were built for NASA. The quarantine requirement was eliminated following Apollo 14 once it was proven that the moon was void of life (and moon pathogens) and the facilities were no longer necessary." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Quarantine_Facility
