Just feels all the more relevant today. Of course Seven Days in May is great and relevant. It's part of the great John Frankenheimer's "paranoid trilogy".

Just feels all the more relevant today. Yes, but instead of a military conspiracy to overthrow the government, it's a conspiracy of social justice warriors and media clowns.

Yeah the Hollywood majors have this thing about strong alpha male types trying to defend the tribe. They hate that.
It is rare to find a movie that portrays such characters in a positive light.
Moses.
I think Starship Troopers was a wink wink nudge nudge endorsement of a fascist dictatorship since Michael Ironside's character says that social scientists brought society to the brink of chaos before military veterans took control and established peace that had lasted for generations.
Another films like that is Scream and Scream Again where Peter Cushing is the benign leader of a military dictatorship. The bad guy is clearly meant to be a Soviet, and he has fellow agents in the British government. The good ol days of movies where such messages could slip into the media.

It's a truly great movie but it's not relevant to anything.

Amazing Burt Lancaster Performance. Agreed. A frightening portrait of a charismatic fanatic.

I just saw it for the first time recently. Marvelous conspiracy thriller with a first rate cast. I love the big confrontation between Lancaster and Fredric March.

Upgraded to the Bluray recently and love it. It's a great film. Between the JFK assassination and this film, it inspired me to do research on Gen. Edwin A. Walker. Walker is even briefly mentioned in the film, although the character of Gen. Scott himself is modeled after that real person.
