Besides The Godfather.... Thief is the best movie, and his best performance. Surprisingly I never seen that one. If you like a thriller with a good story, no waste, I think you'd love this movie... Caan is great, and it's also Michael Mann's directorial debut.
Come to think of it, besides the original German "M", this is probably the next best thriller.
