You linked this page.
One I bet is mentioned; if Joe D had got a hit in Game #57, the streak would have been 73 games. Lets see some schmuck top that one.

Bradley Jr (i think, or another red sock) got to like 30 last year. my computer is messing up, the link doesn't work. i was trying to find out how many pitchers he facd during the streak. i hear michael kay talking about it last year during a game, it was like 60 or 62 different pitchers during the 56 games, which is amazing by todays standards!

I don't think anyone will ever break it. The media pressure nearly killed DiMaggio. In the day when there were maybe 10-15 writers who covered baseball nationally and maybe 10 NY beatwriters. No TV, let alone internet, MLB Network, blogs, podcasts etc. Anything after 20 becomes a story, after 25, a big story, after 30, a huge story. Then it gets ramped up exponentially after every game. At 40, it would me unbelievable. To 41, 42, 43, 44 and the top Rose's and Keeler's streak. Then, lo and behold, its almost two weeks to DiMaggio. It would take a cool singles hitter who would have fun with the media, Rose was one. i thought Ichiro had a chance to make a run.

yeah, there are too many relievers today. you wouldn't be facing the same pitcher every game, by your third at bat you are facing i fire ball relief pitcher. also, the streak would have been longer had someone not made a fantastic play on a ball he hit. i forgot his name, i think he played for the indians. joe D went on another streak right after it was broken

Ted Williams had a higher batting average during DiMaggio's streak than DiMaggio.

How come hairy's op doesn't show up as a post but he's listed on the main sports page as starting this thread?
