Shows such as 'The Ranch' are made to binge watch in one sitting. It's 10 clean episodes, 30 minutes each, pure escapism entertainment.
However, what is the draw in 2018 for Networks or Cable? Any channel with commercials that release a subsequent episode on a weekly basis, it's outdated.
I don't care enough to come back next week. It made sense back in the 1960s or even 1980s to have sitcoms.
When you didn't have options such as YouTube, Video Games, Streaming Services, Mobile Phones, Computers, etc...
So people looked forward to that sort of entertainment, "I wonder what mess Urkel is going to get into next week" or "That Gilligan, man, I can't wait to see how he screws up next week" or whatever. Now, a show has to be engrossing. It has to be a 10 - 13 episode mini movie cut into parts. The audience wants to see the next part of the entire film (or season).
Sitcoms need to be on HULU or NETFLIX where they belong.

Seen that "Modern Family" crap? Forced myself to watch it a couple of times because Al Bundy is in it.
Every character annoys me. That Sofia is nice to look at, until she opens her mouth. She should watch 'Green Acres' to see how to do the clueless foreigner properly (Eva Gabor).
Of course, they have to have a gay couple.
The whole thing is tedious and boring.
Naturally it's a big hit. Everything I hate becomes a hit. Everything I like gets canceled.
Maybe it's just me?

Some of the highest rated shows on broadcast TV are sitcoms.

Last decent show the free networks produced was in 2015. Final season of Hannibal.

With over 400 separate choices of programming to choose from each year, it's not possible to watch everything. And not everyone watches the same things. People shouldn't be guilt tripped because they're not watching the latest buzzworthy show that happens to be shown on premium cable or a streaming service. If anyone is able and willing to pay for those, more power to them. Without looking it up, the broadcast networks each have one night a week dedicated to at least two sitcoms, and other days there's a much as four. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

What's hilarious is that it started out with two teenaged girls, the Nerd and the Hottie, several seasons later the 'Nerd' sprouted a ginormous bosum and has a cute face underneath the ugly glasses, while the 'Hottie' looks like a bug-eyed, anorexic alien, but the show still tries to tell me at ol' Bug Eyes McSkinny is the hot one.
