Terrific film, perfectly cast.
Best direction Oscar, should have won the picture award as well over ZIEGFELD (at least the N.Y. critics got it right).

Cool flick.
I read Frank Capra's controversial 'Mr Smith Goes To Washington' (1939) was originally set to be a follow-up project but became its own separate entity. Who can forget when Jimmy Stewart reaches Washington, sees the different state names etched so beautifully, then sets eyes on Abe Lincoln? Two inspiring motion pictures, a perfect brace, if you will.
