He's been playing this game for decades. Born Wilbert Francisco Cobbs on June 16, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S., Cobbs served in the United States Air Force. He turned out for fellow Clevelander Wes Craven on 'The People Under The Stairs' (1991), and both men played guitar on set.

Yes. Someone on the old IMDb I Need to Know board described him and many actors were named before we finally settled on Bill Cobbs and the OP marked it solved. The only movie I remember seeing him in is that one with Ben Stiller in the museum where Bill Cobbs, Dick Van Dyke, and Mickey Rooney played the security guards.

I was trying to watch it while recovering from my surgery and I kept falling asleep from the pain killers, but what I saw of it was cute. While I'm here, is that Dana Andrews for your avatar? Been wondering for a while.

petrolino Quite a career that Bill Cobbs has had. He's been in several television series as well as all those movies. One of those actors that have added so much to what we watch. Thanks for putting a name to that familiar face. The Bodyguard (1992) Night at the Museum (2006) Get Low (2009)

I remember Bill Cobb from andepisode of THE WEST WING and a very funny cameo in the film FATAL INSTINCT.
Petrolino - Dana Andrews came from a fairly large family. One of his brothers was a Vice Principal at my high school during the 1940's according to a friend's mother who attended the school back then and later was on staff at Long Beach City College. My late housemate used to hitch rides to school with him.
My only connection to Andrews is that the last time I was in the hospital, it was where he died. The Alzheimer’s Facility he was in and where Burt Lancaster had a heart attack while visiting him, has been torn down and replaced with a medical building. My neurologist has an office there.

I'm guessing you must be deep inside the heart of California.

a better picture of Bill Cobbs (and a bigger role) Decoration Day 1990 A cantankerous widower (James Garner) who is virtually living the life of a recluse is forced to rejoin his community when his Godchild (Norm Skaggs) gets in trouble and a childhood friend (Bill Cobbs), a tenant farmer, refuses to belatedly accept the Medal of Honor for bravery in World War II.

Why yes. Not a bad actor but unfortunately I think he's just being used currently as the poor man's Morgan Freeman.

No more unfortunate than John Payne's name being similar to John Wayne's. I came across a library book that mentioned the film The Shores of Tripoli. Someone had struck out the "P" in Payne and scrawled in a "W". Evidently, the person thought they were dutifully correcting a typo.
