I am about to begin episode 3, so I have literally just started the new season. So I won't talk too many spoilers, but if you haven't seen any episodes yet, don't read past this paragraph.
- Okay, so the first thing I want to say is I'm frustrated with how they handle the 'Hannah Baker' ghost/vision/hallucination thing. Just have her in flashbacks (court room flashbacks) to keep her cast in season 2. I hate how Clay can just talk to her. It takes away from her death/suicide. Also, it takes the emotional weight out of specific scenes. At the end of episode 2, when Sky cuts and goes to the hospital... it was raw and emotional. Then he turns around to see Hannah say, "Wow, you sure do pick complicated women" and he screams at her. That took the emotional impact away for me.
I understand it's probably to show Clay is distracted by his thoughts of her, but it's executed poorly.
- The characters are changed for no apparent reason. They are acting way out of character from one season to the next.
- Too many things going on in season 2. The book was pretty straight forward. This girl kills herself, 13 people realize why she did it. It lets the reader understand how bullying can impact someone and how you treat people have long term consequences. So it ends with Sky, a known cutter, and Clay decides "I can't change what happened to Hannah, but I can do something about this girl because she's alive." It's a great ending. I'm sure I'll have other major problems because I'm seeing how this is shaping up already and I don't like it.
Why not have season 2 literally be simple? Have each person from the tapes testify in court, see it from their perspective, understand how the tapes/suicide affected them, and it could be a nice tied up bow. How suicide affects those who feel guilty or responsible.

season 2 not very good, but 2nd half is a little better, but still dark subject matter.
Hannah story is fully over now by end of s2, i believe they should have just kept it as one season, or make it an anthology show, even with same cast as different roles

That's the idea.

I enjoyed season 1 but really didn’t see a need for season 2 and only gave season 2 half an episode before turning it off.

I enjoyed season 1 but really didn’t see a need for season 2 and only gave season 2 half an episode before turning it off. I figured out what happened.
The first season was a mistake. It was great by circumstance. They took a Novel, did a great job with the source material, and fleshed out the characters a bit more. Couple that with some good acting from a few young actors (not all of them) and you have a great story with a jarring finale.
The book was better because at the end, Clay realizes "I can't save Hannah, she's gone" but he sees Sky, a former friend of his who looks depressed and is a known cutter, so he goes over to talk to her (because he would have just ignored her before the events of the tape). What a great ending/moral.
The second season is almost 'fan fiction' akin to 'CW' or 'FreeForm' Teen Drama. It's like night and day. I can't even finish season 2. I'm trying.

When Clay and Sky start having that awkward ‘is this your first time’ conversation...I was like meh, I don’t want to watch this.
