Watched it last night. Hilarious. Bruce Campbell plays a great Elvis. 8/10. I'll have to try and get the short story.

Agreed. Good fun, Bruce in his prime. Shame they never got the sequel off the ground.
This is essential fall viewing for me.

"felt my pecker flutter once, like a pigeon having a heart attack, then it lay back down limp..." I liked this movie. Big Bruce Campbell fan, so I like pretty much anything he is in. I draw charicatures and did one of Bruce a while back:

Watched it last night. Hilarious. Bruce Campbell plays a great Elvis. 8/10. I'll have to try and get the short story. "Don't make me use my stuff on ya, baby!"Glad you enjoyed it. Me and my dad have much of the same love and interest for action films, but when it comes to horror movies, he is usually very stubborn and think they are mostly trash. However, to my surprise he really enjoyed the hell out of Bubba Ho-Tep when the two of us watched it earlier this year, and several times I actually had to "pinch myself" as he burst out with laughter at some of the weird and hilarious stuff that went on and it was really nice to finally share a happy horror movie moment with him, and maybe I might try to get him into seeing Evil Dead 2 some day. Anyway, this is a big favorite of mine and one which surely took me completely by surprise when I first picked up the awesome looking DVD. I didnt exactly march in with too big of any expecations, as I had recently bought and seen The Man With Screaming Brain (2004) and Alien Apocalypse (2005). And while these two were not all that awful, they were not in the same league nor dimension as the Evil Dead trilogy and so I was not sure what to get but I am very glad I did go out and got a hold of Bubba, as it became one of my favorite horror movies of the 00s and one I have seen almost as many times as some of the Evil Dead titles. All in all, a great combination of quirky and strange comedy/horror/adventure but also one which comes with a big, beating heart and makes good room for some very tender and beautiful dramatic moments as well. The special effects, the music, the acting and the many hilarious quotes all makes this into the finest Bruce Campbell performance of his career.

Agreed. Good fun, Bruce in his prime. Shame they never got the sequel off the ground. This is essential fall viewing for me. Along with the much rumoured Re-Animator 5 I almost on a daily basis stopped in to check the IMDb boards to see if there was any news or activity going on with the potential sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep. It was a stressfull and very frustrating time, as one week, it seemed like it was gonna sure happen, the next it was dead, and then it was back on. I still do a bit of searching around, just to see if there is any news or changes, but I guess it just won't happen anytime soon, or at least with the original crew that is.

Yeah, sadly that ship seems to have sailed. There seems to have been a falling out of some sort between Campbell and Coscarelli and it saddens my heart a bit.

Last I heard it had taken so long that Bruce Campbell said he was bo longer interested and had dropped out. Which is a shame because everyone seemed to want to do it at first. Paul Giamatti was a fan of Bubba Ho Tep and wanted to do the sequel, which is presumably why he agreed to be in John Dies at the End. I would have thought that he was a big enough name that he could have gotten them some financing.

It's great fun. Irresistible premise played to the hilt by Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis, who are both wonderful.

Commentary track by old quasi-senile Elvis is the greatest DVD extra known to man, makes good film even better.

Really entertaining movie.
The premise was too ridiculous not to love. On top of being hillarious, it was legitimately emotional at times.

It feels like a short film stretched out to make a feature. Funny and creative in places.
