I have my own ghost story to tell. Years ago, we were in Egypt on holiday and had rented an old villa. One day, I didn't feel like going out with everyone so I stayed home alone. I was in my bedroom on the 2nd floor and there was a veranda running along all the bedrooms on that floor. I was reading a book, and saw out of the corner of my eye, through the glass doors, what looked like a boy running along the veranda towards it's dead end. The figure was greyish, with whitish hair. It seemed like he was wearing some sort of pyjamas. Anyway, I jumped up scared and ran to the veranda doors and checked the end he had been running towards, but no one was there. I was scared but I went outside my bedroom and started calling to see if anyone had come back, but there was no answer. Then I went and checked the bedrooms that open to the veranda - no one. When everyone got back I asked them if anyone had returned earlier, and they all said no. That's when my aunt, who had the largest bedroom opening onto the veranda, with an en suite, told me she had seen a boy, similar to my description, in the bath a couple of times. She said she hadn't told any of us because she didn't want to frighten us. She said she mentioned it to a maid that came to the villa to clean for us and the maid told her that the son of the villa's owner had drowned in the bath in her room. Another thing about that same villa - at night we would hear sounds like there were people running about on the roof of the building and when we would go up to check we wouldn't find anyone. The door to the roof couldn't be locked so we got a rope and tied it to the door handle and then to the stair banisters, hoping it would prevent whatever was up there from coming down - we were young, what can I say?

I saw a show about that. I liked how he was patient with his revenge trickery-so first he established that he was finding old letters, then he introduced the "white salamander walking on hind legs" part to suggest some kind of Satanic element to Mormonism.
Seems to me he could have kept it going if he hadn't gone the mail bomb route.
Oops I am thinking about another thing--a modern forger who was passing off letters about Mormonism.

The only thing funnier than his reason for the theft is the fact that he got a punch in the face from somebody after developing a case of conscience and trying to return it.

Five years old, but I just discovered it now. Just remarkable: Although fake lost heirs aren’t too uncommon, the extent of this guy’s con is something else. The story kind of reminded me of John Dickson Carr’s The Crooked Hinge. The Last Lemp

Ukraine man invents murder in attempt to get police to clear snow Man unhappy with state of his road told officers they would have to come in a snowplough to arrest himA Ukrainian man confessed to a fictitious murder in the hope police would clear his snow-covered road when they came to arrest him, regional authorities have said. The man called police on Saturday evening to tell them he had killed his mother’s partner by stabbing him in the chest. “But at the same time he immediately warned the police that they should come with a snowplough, because there is no other way to get to him,” said Yuliya Kovtun, a police spokesperson, on Monday. She said officers did not take a snowplough and were able to get to the man’s house in an SUV. “Immediately after arriving, they discovered that the relative was indeed at the house, but in one piece and unharmed. No one had attacked him,” she said, adding that the “killer” immediately confessed to making a fake call. Kovtun said municipal services had ploughed the road earlier on Saturday but he “was not satisfied with the quality of the clearing”. The man, from the village of Grybova Rudnya, faces a fine of up to 119 hryvnias (£3) for reporting a false complaint. Ukraine has recorded record snowfalls in recent days, with about 50cm (20 inches) blanketing much of the country. www.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/15/ukraine-man-invents-in-attempt-to-get-police-to-clear-snow

According to one theory the moon is an artifical object. It could be an Alien space station monitoring the Earth.
According to the TV show "Ancient Aliens" Soviet scientist first came up with the "Hollow Moon" theory, claiming that the Moon was made of metal and hollow inside.
