Caught the LotR series on TV recently. Probably one of the best trilogies out there with a lot of great moments. Helms Deep is probably my favorite battle. But my all-time favorite scene from the entire series is definitely this one with Arwen and the Black Riders. No CGI, minus the water at the end I'm pretty sure. But just as someone who grew up around horses and a casual rider myself, I've really come to appreciate the scene more over the years than any of the major battles in the series. It's intense, the cinematography and choreography of the horses and how its shot is simply amazing and Liv Tyler just looks great on the horse!

Does that include the hobbit movies too? There's just too many in battle of five armies to pick a favorite but I will say the fight between Azog and thorin

Very difficult to narrow down to one
The Fellowship of the Ring: The Bridge of Khazad Dum
The Two Towers: Gandalf and the Rohirrim arriving at Helm's Deep
The Return of the King - "End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it. White shores... and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise."

This is really hard because I pretty much hated all three films. But I did like the actor who played Saruman. Great casting there.
That's about it.

The scene with Boromir and Faramir together - didn't make the theatrical cut for some reason but the highlight of the extended version.

Hard to choose, but I'll go with the opening scene in ROTK. Just so haunting when Smeagol goes crazy and kills his friend/brother (can't remember who he was).

I know I am in the minority but those films did nothing for me. I didn't like the casting or the CGI or the direction. Or even the music.
I love the novels. I even like the 1979 animated film, which I watched immediately after seeing FOTR.
But this Jackson trilogy was a disappointment.

Honestly, I think it just might be The Shire's intro narrated by Bilbo. That scene early on really sets the mood for me, a nice long patient journey of a story ahead. Its visuals & music are pure magic.
