Because the vehicle maintains the same amount of HP it did as a full sized vehicle except this time it's now a fraction of its weight. Same power + way less weight = far faster acceleration and velocity. Enough to compensate for the reduction in size apparently.

Shrinking is up there in the nonsense factor with time travel but if something travelling at a certain velocity was suddenly shrunken, it would still be travelling at the same velocity irrelevant of its size and in fact, it would easily accelerate due to the suddenly reduced air resistance. Assuming they magically keep the same mass when shrunken, their inertia would be greater so the forces acting on them to slow them down would be less powerful. Think of it sort of as the reverse effect of shooting a bullet into a body of water.
Or it could just be a silly movie having some fun.

Technically, maintaining their strength while shrunken in size makes sense scientifically. But that becomes completely absurd if you apply the same logic to when Antman becomes Giantman... because using that logic he shouldn't be strong enough to even move.
