The first 4 Star Trek movies all went up half a point and Final Frontier went down half a point. I edited my reply and it explains why the DC is better. Interesting.

Haven't seen any of yours but Guardians 2 is on my "to see" list. I've seen 1 three times and liked it better each time. My week: Tintorera (1978) Killer Shark movie with poor effects. Looked like they may have actually killed a shark or two during filming. 3/10 The Love Witch (2016) Samantha Robinson has a nice screen presence, but most of the acting left a bit to be desired. 5/10 Lips of Blood(1975) As to be expected in a Jean Rollin movie, good imagery, pretty women, nudity. 7/10 The Neon Demon(2016) Seemed more an indictment of our culture of physical beauty than a horror movie. Still, it had enough horror elements in it to hold my interest. Christina Hendricks' role needed more screen time. 5/10 Night of the Hunted(1980) Another Jean Rollin film. The overall plot is interesting but many of the specific happenings made little or no sense. Brigitte Lahaie is gorgeous. 6/10 The Love Witch (2016) interesting aesthetic, certainly not for everyone 6/10 The Neon Demon(2016) 6/10 a mixed bag, keanu is terrible

Yours: Incredibles 2 - 8/10 - Yep Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - 8/10 Mine: First Time Viewings:Die Hard 2 (1990) - Blu-ray Yeah it's basically a bit of a rehash only set in an airport but it's still fun. Gonna need to catch up on the rest. 7/10Repeat Viewings:Back to the Future Part II (1989) - DVD I feel like this is the darkest chapter of the three, even if it is a tad more goofy than the first film. Still, a pretty darn worthy followup and it's really the only one to establish Biff as a true villain into the saga. 7/10Back to the Future Part III (1990) - DVD The weakest but still very enjoyable. Just didn't click with me as much with the whole western vibe. 7/10Scream 4 (2011) - Blu-ray My favourite sequel in the franchise. 7/10Die Hard 2 (1990) - villain is too cartoony, the action all feels a bit muted compared to the original 5.5/10 Back to the Future Part II (1989) 7.5/10 Back to the Future Part III (1990) - drags a bit in places but still a strong enough closer 6.5/10 Scream 4 (2011) 6/10

Welcome back to another week of the BEST & WORST edition of 'what movies did you see last week?' thread. For those who haven't been part of it before, basically your hosts (us) posts our weekly movies and you can comment on those and list your movie for the same time frame. We will get back to you on yours and you can talk to other users here about their films. It's a great place to talk about film. Was busy travelling and listening to podcasts this week so not too many films from me. FIRST TIME MOVIE VIEWING Incredibles 2 (2018, Brad Bird) cinema
This was a great sequel to an established Pixar classic from fourteen years ago. The animation and set pieces were outstanding as per usual. The Bond like score was wonderful and the film had a bit of everything emotion wise. The 'twist' could be seen a mile off but I am not sure they ever had real intentions to hide it. In the end I am not sure it attained the heights of the original but it's right up there all the same. 7.5/10 REPEAT MOVIE VIEWING Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 2 (2017, James Gunn) blu ray
Second viewing for this one and whilst i still found it to be colourful silly fun, I found it a but lacking in other areas. The characters are great but after the first act I found it a bit of a clusterfuck, especially the finale. I originally put this above the original but not sure if it will hold that spot if I rewatch the first chapter. 6.5-7 Kalifornia (1993, Dominic Sena) blu ray
This road movie sees a journalist/photograher duo (David Duchovny, Michelle Forbes) go on a tour of serial killer murder sites with two companions (Brad Pitt, Juliette Lewis), unaware that one of them is a serial killer himself. The film is beautifully shot but feels like a bit of a chore in the middle. I feel if it were edited down to 90 mins from its two hour run time it would be much more effective. Some of the characters feel a bit broad, the narration is a bit cheesey and the score isn't great but the film still has some thing. 6/10WEEKLY AWARDS
BEST FILM: Incredibles 2 BEST ACTOR: Chris Pratt - Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 2 BEST ACTRESS: Michelle Forbes - Kalifornia BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Kurt Russell - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Juliette Lewis - Kalifornia BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Bojan Bazelli - Kalifornia BEST SCORE: Michael Giacchino - Incredibles 2 BEST DIRECTOR: Brad Bird - Incredibles 2 10/10 - Perfection (or as close to it as possible) 09/10 - An Excellent film 08/10 - A VERY Good film 07/10 - A Good film 06/10 - A Solid film 05/10 - An Average film 04/10 - Below Average film 03/10 - A mostly bad film 02/10 - A mostly terrible film 01/10 - Awful through and through 00/10 - Not only awful but offensive too Hi, Dark. Yours: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 8.5/10 Loved it. I liked it more than the first. Haven't rewatched it though. Kalifornia 6/10 Saw it ages ago, I remember thinking it was so-so. Mine: Unsane 8.5/10 Steven Soderbergh's movie with Claire Foy. Loved it, glad I caught up with it. It's so tense, the cast is great, Claire Foy is fantastic. I'm not sure it will be your cup of tea, it gets maybe a bit over the top in the second half, I liked that though, it kind of feels like a 70s movie in a way. Beverly Hills Cop II 6.5/10 The sequel. It's not bad, I prefer the first one though. I'm not sure Tony Scott was the right director for it. Brigitte Nielsen is fun as a villain. The Las Vegas Story 8/10 It's a film noir with Victor Mature, Jane Russell and Vincent Price, about a Vegas cop who runs into an ex girlfriend of his, who's now married with a shady businessman, and they might be involved in a murder. I liked it, it's really well made and well acted. Loved Vincent Price. Colors 8/10 Dennis Hopper movie with Robert Duvall and Sean Penn, about two L.A. cops dealing with the gangs. I like it, it holds up well, and the cast is great, especially Robert Duvall.

First Viewings...
-For All Mankind (1989) (DOCU) (July 10th 2018) - a worthwhile viewing for those interested in NASA type of stuff.
-The Shining (1980) (July 12th 2018) - 5/10 (overrated like all other Kubrick movies. it was decent enough earlier on but loses a bit of steam later into the movie.)
Re-watches...
-After Hours (1985) (July 9th 2018) - 5/10 (was a 7-7.5/10 prior to this. this is my 3rd viewing of it. the previous two viewings... Aug 1st 2013/Sep 13th 2014. while it's still a fairly unique movie, it just don't work for me overall anymore.)
-Restraint (2008) (July 12th 2018) - 6/10 (was a 6.5-7/10. I think this is my 3rd viewing in total. Oct 5th 2014 was my previous re-watch.)
-The Guest (2014) (July 13th 2018) - 6/10 (my 2nd viewing and it held steady. I do feel it fizzles a little late into the movie though. Aug 5th 2015 was my initial viewing.)
-A Man Apart (2003) (July 15th 2018) - 8/10 (within my Top 56 movies. it's underrated. this along with Find Me Guilty (2006) are tied for my #1 Vin Diesel movie and is the directors #1 movie in my mind... 1)A Man Apart (2003)(8/10) 2)Friday (1995)(7/10) 3)Straight Outta Compton (2015)(6-6.5/10, close to a 6.5-7/10) etc.)
p.s. in general for me... 5/10 or less = Thumbs Down. 6/10 or higher = Thumbs Up
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OP's...
-Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (2017) - 5/10 (a enjoyable enough one time viewing)
-Kalifornia (1993) - 4/10 (I used to like this until a re-watch on March 5th 2015)

I noticed that the duo who's supposed to be doing the new BHC is doing Bad Boys 3, now. So, yeah, BHC 4 might be in trouble.

Hi!!
Guardian Vol 2: 7.5-8 Kalifornia 7
Mine
Final Destination 5 (2011 TV): I guess FD5 has all the ingredients of a Horror; blood, bad acting and what looks like a story. I have to say that I enjoyed the death scenes, always anticipating the next nail, screw, bolt, wrench or spike that’s going to kill someone. The scenes in-between the deaths were pretty crappy though. Not as bad as I always thought it would be but still, not a good movie. 5/10
Argo (2012 TV): Although I found parts to be far-fetched (the plane chase, the shredded picture, the plane thickets…) this was a solid thriller based on a true story. The cast was great, my favorites being Arkin, Goodman and Tate Donovan (Marissa’s father!!) The over-emotional ending tugged at my heartstrings, I have to admit. 7-7.5/10
Oculus (2013 Netflix): This is a superb psychological-horror movie, not only did it freak me out but the story is interesting and constructed by agile hands. Acting is just solid enough, editing is fluid but complex and the script, like I said, was out of this world. 7.5/10
Krampus (2015 Netflix): “A boy who has a bad Christmas ends up accidentally summoning a festive demon to his family home.” Now that’s what im talking about!! This IS a great comedy/horror. Loved it so much I can’t even wait to rewatch it. It’s funny, entertaining, clever, well made and freaky. Better than Trick R’ Treat. 8/10
The Shallows (2016 Netflix): Not really sure why I watched this movie. It’s good looking but pointless. My wife liked it. The best review I found for it is “The Shallows is diverting escapism one wishes could have cut a little deeper.” 5/10
Holidays (2016 Netflix): “HOLIDAYS is an anthology feature film that puts a uniquely dark and original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved holidays of all time by challenging our folklore, traditions and assumptions.” A good mixed-bad of horror. I recommend you watch the trailer because if you like it, the movie lives up to it very well. Overall: 6.5/10
XX (2017 Netflix): “Four short horror films that are directed and written by women” The rating of 4.6 on Imdb is harsh. At least it has 64 Metascore. I thought this movie was original and refreshing, if anything.
The Box had the potential to achieve greatness but the last 2-3 scenes got me to a lost, unfortunately. 6.5/10
The Birthday party was well played but just plain ridiculous and not shocking. 4.5/10
Don’t Fall had a cool ambiance and characters and was just plain fun. 7/10
Her only living son also had potential but I felt like it never reached it fully. 6/10
The Open House (2018 Netflix): With the 3.3 rating I HAD to see this for myself. Honestly, I don’t see why people make such a case out of this movie; it’s like 30% of the rest of the horrors/thrillers of this genre. Guy wakes-up hearing a sound, he gets up and walks slowly through house with suspenseful music. Woman is taking shower, suspenseful music. Guy goes down in the basement to check water tank, suspenseful music. Women washed dishes… well, I guess you get my point. Change the soundtrack of this movie and it changes totally. Gerald’s Game was way better than this bore fest. For the cinematography and the old lady in the woods, I give it 3.5-4/10.

The over-emotional ending tugged at my heartstrings, I have to admit. 7-7.5/10 Oculus (2013 Netflix): This is a superb psychological-horror movie, not only did it freak me out but the story is interesting and constructed by agile hands. Acting is just solid enough, editing is fluid but complex and the script, like I said, was out of this world. 7.5/10 Krampus (2015 Netflix): “A boy who has a bad Christmas ends up accidentally summoning a festive demon to his family home.” Now that’s what im talking about!! This IS a great comedy/horror. Loved it so much I can’t even wait to rewatch it. It’s funny, entertaining, clever, well made and freaky. Better than Trick R’ Treat. 8/10 The Shallows (2016 Netflix): Not really sure why I watched this movie. It’s good looking but pointless. My wife liked Holidays (2016 Netflix): “HOLIDAYS is an anthology feature film that puts a uniquely dark and original spin on some of the most iconic and beloved holidays of all time by challenging our folklore, traditions and assumptions.” A good mixed-bad of horror. I recommend you watch the trailer because if you like it, the movie lives up to it very well. Overall: 6.5/10 XX (2017 Netflix): “Four short horror films that are directed and written by women” The rating of 4.6 on Imdb is harsh. At least it has 64 Metascore. I thought this movie was original and refreshing, if anything. The Box had the potential to achieve greatness but the last 2-3 scenes got me to a lost, unfortunately. 6.5/10 The Birthday party was well played but just plain ridiculous and not shocking. 4.5/10 Don’t Fall had a cool ambiance and characters and was just plain fun. 7/10 Her only living son also had potential but I felt like it never reached it fully. 6/10 The Open House (2018 Netflix): With the 3.3 rating I HAD to see this for myself. Yooo Final Destination 5 (2011 TV): Ii start to Firth which ones are which by this stage, probably 5/10 though Argo (2012 TV): 6.5/10 It was fine for a once off viewing Oculus (2013 Netflix): This director is hot and miss but this one works pretty well 6.5/10 Krampus (2015 Netflix): i thought this one sucked and was a real chore to finish. 3/10 The Shallows (2016 Netflix): It was ok but the end was too over the top 5.5

Shock Waves 1977-- a seasonal favorite. Watch it every summer. For an ultra cheap horror movie I think it is very good.
White lightning 1973-
The Midnight Man 1974 -- good mystery murder.
