So I guess he's original Antifa or something? And for god's sake, why is he wearing a hoodie?!?!?

Yeah, that's a nope. I don't think much of Jamie Foxx's British accent either. This looks worse than King Arthur.

I'm not against them making a new Robin Hood movie. Hell I welcome Hollywood pouring money into a classical swashbuckler film;I'm discounting the ones based off modern properties like Pirates of the Caribbean or Prince of Persia. I just hate it when it's one of these movies, like the aforementioned King Arthur: Legend of the Sword or The Three Musketeers (2011). It doesn't trust audiences to enjoy the elements that makes the source material a timeless classic work of fiction (or at the least entertaining) so it opts for either the trendy grim-dark or it's so absurdly ott that you cannot take it seriously. I heard the new Zorro reboot is supposed to be like this cyberpunk dystopian re-imagining. Gah!

The pace was like a meth overdose, and the story just way too choppy. ETA: I want to punch Robin in the face just from the trailer. His character is clearly a smug asshole.

It's kind of sad actually. When they first announced this I was semi-excited. I love the Robin Hood story.
Then the trailer came out and it was everything I didn't want to see. Better luck next time!

I actually wish Marvel would give Hawkeye his own movie. If they want to do a modern Robin Hood story, that would be the perfect way to do it, by making his story Robin Hood-esque. I prefer Robin Hood in the appropriate time period, though. I agree with the post up-thread that said Robin Hood doesn't need anything added to his story to make it interesting. I consider Costner's film the one to beat.

Walt Disney's The Story of Robin Hood and His Merry Men is a decent straight version of the story.
Who was the bald guy in Scott's Robin Hood? I thought that guy so inconsequential as a villain.

Agreed, Renner is always good.

Kind of an aside, but does anyone remember when Jamie Foxx did the black Tony Blair on Chappelle's Show? I thought he was being campy with the accent, but clearly that's him doing a Brittish accent. I feel like I need a Brit to verify if it's as bad as it sounds to me, or if I'm just being a dick.

The old synopsis said he and Robin met during the crusade iirc. Edit: Okay the trailer gave no indication of that and neither did the previous one, but it's probably still in there. Also lol at his voice cracking deeply during training.

I'm going to be that guy. I can't wait to see this. It looks awful, I agree. If it were any more anachronistic, Robin would be riding a motorcycle. But screw it, I'm in. Also, I like Mendelsohn but is he getting tired of playing the same character in every film?
