Food Of The Gods is appalling for it's treatment of the rats and mice. The film is pretty darn abysmal as well. Empire Of The Ants is so much more enjoyable. A shame too since it has two of my favorite actresses Ida Lupino and Pamela Franklin, but I have only seen it once on tv and the rat drowning stuff was too much. Then I found out they also shot them and their entrails were hanging out etc.
Empire of the Ants is a lot better.

Food also looks like the more appealing of the two advertising wise, but Ants is a hoot. My favorite of these early cheap 70's nature runs amok films is Frogs. "Today the pond, tomorrow the world."

Ugh, this is biasm at its core. I'd say it even borders on fascism.

Biasm can be a word, I don't understand why people just say "bias", it doesn't sound completely right. I suppose it could be a word, but I'm pretty sure it isn't in actual language. And to my ear, that would sound much worse.

He was such a horse's ass wasn't he? I mean yeah, the movie is by far one of my favorite slasher pics...but that first one and second one are still pretty good movies. I remember learning at a young age to take his opinion with a grain of salt.

"Today the pond, tomorrow the world." That is one of the funniest taglines as well for any movie.
I was scared when I first saw this on t.v. as a kid and where I grew up , they didn't have many creepy crawlies and no snakes at all.
Yeah! Lets not forget about SQUIRM, that is another goody too: Squirm was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid. Freaked me out for the longest time. Wouldn't drink milk forever after this movie.

I remember those days when Siskel and Ebert were completely appalled by the slasher genre, but that boycott crap went a bit too far. And it didn't do any good anyway because Paramount just kept on grinding out the Friday sequels year after year. I remember seeing their review on the original Halloween and they were all about it giving accolades and what not. I prefer Halloween, but in my opinion Friday the 13th isn't that bad. I actually prefer it as a series. Neither series is anything to write home about, but Friday is much more consistent. They were not too kind to the Halloween sequels … but they did give H20 thumbs up.... although I do recall Siskel passing away before H20 so it must have been Roeper.

[/quote] Siskel died a year after H20 came out. I don't know if they did that on the show, but Ebert's published review is online and is quite negative.

Biasm can be a word, I don't understand why people just say "bias", it doesn't sound completely right. It's a word that describes having two orgasms in proximity.

He was a very good movie reviewer but also could be a smug douchebag a bit too often. He didn't like a movie so he ruins it for everyone else? That's the behavior of a spoiled child.
