Looks like a f&cking epic. What is it about the MonsterVerse that makes it so much more successful than the DCEU at this point with half the movies released? They're both WB franchises set in a shared universe.

I'm getting a Pacific Rim vibe. That isn't bad AFIC because I love that film, but I'm wonder if it won't end up getting the same reception.

How the hell is King Kong gonna match up with these guys? Godzilla is 300 feet tall and Ghidorah is over 500 ft. Kong is just 100 ft tall.

As long as it doesn't cut away from every monster fight, I'm good. I actually like the 2014 Godzilla but man that got annoying. I loved Godzilla 2014, maybe for that reason. It focused on people dealing with crisis instead of a CGI creature fest. I love me some Godzilla but I need real stakes. Kong Island (I know the title) was the opposite, just a bunch of cardboard cutout characters getting shredded by endless CGI beasts. It was a cartoon.
This looks like they're trying to strike that balance between the drama of Godzilla 2014 and the action of Skull Island. It's a tough formula to get right. Overall I like what I see in that trailer, I just worry because there's a good chance we get stock characters and a paint by numbers plot. But you know what? All will be forgiven if (come on, when) Kong and Godzilla team up at the end. The film could be great, or it could be terrible, but baby I'm all in right now.
