Yep. A couple days before Christmas I was walking home from the shops with xmas shopping and this random schizophrenic woman on a park bench I passed by started accusing me of being some sort of child abuser from her childhood and she got up and started walking behind me, following me.
Swearing her head off and seething with rage — I just totally ignored her, apart from looking behind me every once in a while to ensure she wasn’t catching up to me to attack me or whatever (if she did, it would’ve been me coming out on top, not the other way around—but I’m not about to hurt a weak person who clearly needs help, if I can avoid it), and she kept on following me! The faster I walked the faster she walked. I thought, ‘when’s this shit gonna end? I’m trying to mind my own business here.’
I got sick of it, so I burst into a sprint and that seemed to shake her off.

In 1969 Army boot camp, a drill instructor who was a total stranger to me, started barking orders at me. One of my fellow recruits (who was Puerto Rican) called him a "porco grande" and the DI had no idea what he was just called.  |

One time in screenwriting class I wrote this script for a cannibal exploitation film. And there was this one fat guy mid 40's with small beady eyes that didn't like the pages I brought in. He wasn't even a student so I don't know what he was doing there. Then I said the script was meant to be for a musical(horror musical) and his small beady eyes widened. He said "This is a musical?! Are you kidding?! Is this a joke?! This is a musical?!…. YOU'RE WEIRD!"

I was walking up the street and this older guy pointed a finger at me and said angrily: "That's right! They gave those bastards 20 years at Kitimat!"
And another time a car load of teenagers were screaming at me for no reason. I responded in kind and added a finger gesture which probably wasn't smart since they drove up the street and parked, but unknown to them I always took a short cut home. Only later did I realize they were waiting for me to walk by them.

Very early in my career, I was walking in to a large control room, and I didn't realize the door wouldn't close properly behind me. This huge old man stands up from the manager's desk and starts yelling at me pretty strongly over not shutting it. So I shut it.
Later I found out they called him "Captain Wacko."
I ended up working for him. He was indeed Wacko. But a great kind of Wacko. He died a few years ago. The funeral home was packed. Myself and several others who worked for him still wish him happy birthday every year on facebook. His wife still enjoys that.

yesterday.
I was getting ready to parallel park on a street in front of my gym where parking space is a very rare commodity. As I was backing into the space (my blinker on, half way turned in etc) a car came up behind me and was blocking me from entry into the spot. as it was a one lane street i moved a bit forward to let them pass, and he does what? Zooms RIGHT INTO my beauty of a parking spot.
At first I thought / oh well. Some people are just assholes and thought about moving along but then I felt: no. I will not just move along. this is not what a civilized member of the society does to another person.
So I turned off my car, left it where it was, got out and walked over to the car that took my spot. As I was approaching them I may have raised my arms in a gesture “what is this” and when I got to them I said (I quote verbatim) “u must be joking. u. must. be. joking”. I was not yelling but my tone was intense and clearly showing disappointment.
There were 3 people in the car. The driver (female) started yelling at me. “what are you doing, ok Ill get out , but what were you going to do?” I didnt quite get what she meant so I asked what she means. All three of them looked fairly scared for some reason. She said “well the way you got out of your car and were waving your arms it looked like you were going to do something”. I said - yeah, I was going to come here and ask you if you are joking, taking the spot you clearly must have seen me trying to get to. Thats all. She says “it looked like you were going to do something”.
to this moment i am not sure what she meant. anyway she got out of the parking space and left. Later in my gym I thought about it and perhaps me wearing a tshirt with a giant picture of a pit-bull and the word “kombat” contributed to her reaction. So that was the last moment someone yelled at me.

One time when I was walking to the train, someone yelled at me something like, “Oh, you’re DEAD!” because when he asked for money, I said I had none on me. Thankfully, nothing came of it.

As a teen I was at a roller skating rink, and I met a girl. We were having a friendly enough time together,just talking and skating, until at the end of last skate, when we turned our skates in, she just abruptly walked away. Thinking I had said something wrong, I followed to ask what I did.
Then this drunk steps in my face and yells "What's your problem, buddy?!?" With him being a large drunk adult, my reply was, "Nothing", and I turned away. He takes the girl and leaves.
I go out with my friend to the parking lot, get in his car, and we see this guy at his truck yelling at the girl, then he storms back into the rink, we hunker down in the car, and see him go back to the truck, yell some more, then go back to the rink.
We then headed for the hills. About 2 miles down the road we see the truck in the rearview mirror. He passes us and swerves in front and stops. He then starts into my friend, screaming at the top of his lungs at him, until he stops and says "Is this the guy?" To which a sheepish voice says "No, the other one."
So he comes to my side, grabs me by the jacket, and starts into me again. About me following his 12 year old daughter like a dog in heat. (I was 15, she told me she was 14) I tell him I surely won't do it again. They left. I about shit my pants.
My friend goes back to the rink the next weekend, and she's there, and gives him her picture for me. She tells him that her dad sometimes gets like that when he is drunk, and that he is sorry, and she would really like to see me again.
LOL, I was not interested in continuing the relationship.

And if so, what was the context. Yes. I've lived in New York City. It's quite common actually. And after a few times, not as disconcerting as you might think. As for context... it's quite unnecessary in New York City random yelling. |

And you know what they say, you don't just marry her, you marry her whole family! Actually my friend that was driving, he did hook up with a girl at the rink, I'm not sure if it was that night was the first or if they had already met, and they are married to this day. |

I was out if earshot for the actual yelling, but the other day I was ushering a concert, and I sat a Filipino lady in the wrong seat. Five minutes later I turn around and she's shouting at my boss pointing at me. For about five minutes she's pretty much trying to get me reprimanded or even fired while he apologizes prefusely. The kicker was that the seat I gave her was better than her actual one, and just two feet away so barely an inconvenience to move, yet she's f*cking fuming.

Got a loud 'THANK YOU??' from an idiot holding open a door to a Subway restaurant one time when I barely nodded thanks.
a. when it's going outside & no one's in the mood for diddling, I don't usually vocally acknowledge nor expect in return - like a mass transit station or something where the doors are a thing & not million users are saying thank you all f'n day.
b. guy was so obviously waiting to launch that at the next person not to acknowledge his gesture & he probably raged up waiting to scream at the next person, bullet in the barrel cocked to blow.
I feel like those acknowledgements for common sense like holding a door when 2 ppl arrive at the same door at the same time is like not tipping for food when you drive out to pick it up yourself.
That episode was certainly a one off for me because it's the first & only time I've been yelled at by a stranger & easily recalled.

I was walking on the street with two friends, when some drunk started to yell at us. He threatened to beat us up, but we just laughed at him.
While I was slowly driving away from a parking lot, a big man suddenly kicked my car and started to yell something. My friend was with me and we decided that it was best to just drive away. That man was huge and his behavior was psychotic. We followed him, and when we passed him, we shouted some obscenities at him and gave him the finger. He was enraged and looked like he was gonna kill someone. Later I heard from another friend that this man really did have some problems with mental health. He was violent and unpredictable.
A young, beautiful woman once gave me a finger and yelled at me in a traffic circle. I thought it was cute.
