I haven’t been able to find anything about RJ blaming fans for the toys not selling. He deleted 20k Tweets. For all I know, he deleted those too. The Solo related Tweet was made in response to Ron Howard's comments about the negative reception to Solo. The other about the merchandising sales was made at some point between the release of Episode 8 and now (he said something about how it was just "made up" by trolls afraid of minorities). I use Yahoo (I've been strongly considering changing email services but I've had my account with them 20+ years so it would require a lot to make it happen), so they see it fit to show me an article headline for every time the annoying little social media personality "claps back" at someone... At this point, his comments are all starting to blend together because the guy spends his time just mocking Star Wars fans and calling everyone who didn't like his episode "trolls", "toxic fans", and "misogynists".

If he did say that, I would assume there would be articles and screenshots on the subject, but I can’t find a single one. I appreciate your effort to find what I stated. I also respect that you don't just take a person's word for it and actually seek to validate the authenticity of a claim (we should never just accept something without researching ourselves). All I can do is say what I saw him write/post. Researching though, I've learned that not only did Rian Johnson delete 20k Tweets, but he also deleted every Tweet he ever made prior to January of this year. www.washingtonpost.com/news/comic-riffs/wp/2018/07/26/rian-johnson-deletes-all-his-pre-2018-tweets-after-james-gunns-firing/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.4b6ae0d8a28aI've confirmed this by actually visiting his Twitter account myself (gods help me). His oldest Tweet now is from January 25, 2018. For all I know, the Tweet I'm referencing was made prior to that date. My guess is that he found that easier (deleting them all) than having to scroll through every Tweet, and he knew there wasn't anything questionable before then.

I told Rian you have to think about the fans! And he said "Nope!" He said that he was going to call them man-babies behind their backs. And a host of other things to their faces in Tweets. That's just great Rian. I don't care anymore!

That's just great Rian. I don't care anymore! How did the milk taste? Like a cocktail of whiskey, goats milk, golf course turf, and fish oil. I hope my expression in the shot really sold the experience.

The point is, Rian Johnson is right about these people being trolls. Contrary to what you might like to believe, trolls do exist, and rapists like Mike Cernovich definitely qualify as trolls. Oh, I don't claim otherwise. However, to fall back on blaming everything on "trolls" is a lame and weak argument. Apparently, when in doubt, just blame trolls! Your boss being hard on you? Blame trolls. Accidentally break something in your home? Blame trolls. Get a flat tire? Blame trolls. Yippee! Extremism is never good. The best way to go about this is to blame trolls when they deserve blame, and blame the person if they deserve blame. In this case, both sides deserve blame.

Except for the last part where he blames Gunn being fired on some "trolls" instead of where the real problem rests, which is Gunn. It was Gunn who got himself fired - not anyone else. The fact that he blames it on "trolls" again (much like the criticism of Episode 8) just shows how badly he can't admit the truth about things. Now for some Public Service Announcements as people can't seem to grasp they should think before they post to their personal social media accounts... Technically, it was trolls who got him fired. Gunn had publicly apologized for his old tweets and blog posts back in 2012. People like Mike Cernovich dug up his old tweets specifically because they were mad that he’s not a Trump supporter. Wrong. Gunn got fired for HIS child rape fantasies, pedo group endorsements and other depraved tweets. It is solely his fault and completely irrelevant who provided the evidence for his depravety.
Wrong. Gunn in 2012 publicly apoligized for OTHER blogs on his website that contained homophobic and misogynistic content. The child rape tweets were never included and he even made depraved jokes during his time with Disney later.
Probably. But what has that to do with Gunn's responibility? Nothing, that is what. It is rather typical that whistleblowers come from the same milieu like the offender. In the meantime additional pedo materials have resurfaced.

Man, you need to get over this. Disney screwed up, gave in to trolls and this delicate PC culture.

Why is this an issue NOW(Disney DEFINITELY knew about his past when he was hired)? Was there pedophelia or rape subtext in the first two Guardians that I'm unaware of? Was he supporting a secret society of pedos or rapists with the millions he's made? Stop being sheep. I'm not defending tasteless jokes, but I'll defend his right to say them. Jokes and words to not make him whatever it is you might claim him to be. Obviously those who know him think otherwise.

Wow. DC-Fan and Tristan's Journal , you guys should save this and keep it handy to combat all those apologists on the MCU board!!!1 ^^ This is just the tip of the iceberg:
1. When hired Gunn in 2012 had to excuse for homophobic and misogystic content on his homepage: THIS is what Marvel/Disney knew of. Not the pedo excesses. Or they would have included that in the apology.
2. Gunn additionally made countless pro child rape jokes on Twitter and endorsements of pedo right groups like Nambla and has good networking/linking connections with convicted pedos like his director pal Huddelston. THIS is waht git him fired. Note that some tweets were made DURING his time at Marvel, eg Dec 2012; "Eagle snatches child is what I call it when I get lucky". which is especially disturbing and distusting. Or his repeated blog story how "extremely happy" the sexual assault and humiliation of a child by an ape made him.
3. Then a video where he talks about anally raping his daugher surfaced last week plus pics where he is dressed up for a pedo-themed party.
What else is to come?
Conclusion: In some juristisdictions the promotion of the pedo cause/child rape speech would already be a offence and he would be at leasts be investigated and fined (like where I live) or in worst case get imprisoned for depravity. Not so in the US seemingly, it's all fun and jokes, even when some of the comments lack the bare minimum of a set up and punch line, and then...who laughs about child rape? Pedos, that's who.
Disney did what they must.

I couldn't care less about the Gunn issue at this point, BUT: I'm loving the debate. Great minds battling it out, and I've got a front row seat.

When employers fire teenagers for saying things on social media, I don't see why a grown man should get a pass. Look, he has a right to say what he wants. I don't think anyone is arguing against that. However, Disney also has a right to fire him - just like ABC (owned by Disney) had the right to fire Roseanne Barr and Netflix had the right to fire Kevin Spacey.

If it was such an issue it should have been dealth with THEN. There's a time domain on this crap. If he was actually a convicted criminal and he'd been hiding it, SURE, I'd be behind you. But he actually only WROTE things. The Catch a Predator thing is funny, especially if you recall how often that show was used as a joke at the time.
Roseanne said things in the present day, and meant it. Gunn made tasteless jokes. If you honestly believe he meant and believes everything he posted then you failed to identify them as the purely-for-shock-value posts that they are. That people WANT to paint him as a pedophile and that you can get someone fired for their past when that character doesn't and hasn't defined them for years is a disgusting fact. It's sad that these claims about the guy are now considered facts by some. He's been labeled a pedophile by part of the internet.
It's all taken out of context and molded to paint the mark whatever the mob decides.
Gunn has been convicted of nothing. Roseanne said actual racist things in a hurtful way, and Spacey actually did something to another person. All Gunn is guilty of is poor jokes. He's guilty of exercising his free speech IN THE PAST when he was going in a different direction. So let's stone him for it.
