Hi, For the past years I have only listened to almost the same songs/albums/artists/bands and I want to listen so something else/new. The problem, I don't know where to start! There a hundreds of bands that look interesting but I can never listen to them all. What I tried is look on www.besteveralbums.com/yearstats.php for the best albums by years, didn't really help because the top 10 doesn't mean I like those albums because they are ranked as best. If someone could give me some recommendations based on this list of bands I listen to: The Doors The Beatles The Beach Boys Jimi Hendrix Santana George Harrison Ramones Creedence Clearwater Revival Johnny Cash A selection of bands I listen most to. As you can see it is a lot of music from the 60s, that doesn't mean I like them all, for example, I never really listen to The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd or Bob Dylan. To keep things short, any recommendations about what I shoud listen to, or how I should search for new music. And how do you look for new music? Thanks!

To keep things short, any recommendations about what I should listen to, or how I should search for new music. And how do you look for new music? I can't recommend any bands that meet your criteria. However, I'm happy to tell you how I find new music, as I frequently buy new album releases. My recommendation is start with YouTube. Find a channel that posts songs, playlists, or full albums that meet your preferences. Start listening and keep listening. If you find a song you like, search for the album, the odds are the entire thing is on YouTube. If you like the album, buy it to support the artist. Depending on how picky you are, you may have to listen a while before you find something worthy of further consideration. I consider myself pretty picky, but I've yet to run out of great new albums to buy. Good luck!

Thanks for your list paislene, I will check them out.
Hi alpa128, I know it is hard to find out someone else's taste of music. I used YouTube a while ago for inspiration but know I have Spotify premium so I don't have to look for full albums. "Depending on how picky you are", I think I am quite picky. For example, I thought Pink Floyd would be an great band to listen to. I listened from their first album till Wish You Were Here, and unfortunately, I don't really find them anything special. They have a few songs I like but overall I don't like their style. The Dark Side of the Moon is considered one of the best albums of all time... the only song I like from that album is "Money".
My dad, who is from that 1960s era, advised me to listen to "Tho Who", "The Animals" or "The Monkees". Thanks to him I enjoyed several songs of Rod Stewart when he was in the band "The Faces".

Most of my music knowledge comes from drivetime - music from the car radio , and that started in the 1950's . My grandparents on both sides lived in very small country towns and had the old tube radios , and they mainly listened to classical stations , and there were many relatives to visit with varied tastes . That is where I learned about blues and jazz , and later began listening to contemporaries like Bill Haley , Little Richard and Jerry lee lewis .
At home , I have a big collection of cd's , covering many singers and bands from 1930 > present .
In my car , which has bluetooth/wifi etc , I carry 2 cd's for longer trips: Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine Paul Hardcastle - Hardcastle For local trips , I just listen to the FM radio stations .
There are many good hard rock bands like Deep Purple , The Grateful Dead , Fleetwood Mac , Kiss which I've enjoyed , but I tend to like easy listening music .
Some of my favorites are the forgotten folk singers like Gordon Lightfoot , Rod McKuen , Tom Waits , Barry McGuire , Leonard Cohen ...
The list has become never-ending and I'm still discovering singers from all periods . It's nearly impossible keeping up with the current performers , and many of them are outstanding too .

Spotify is a music streaming service, they have almost every album and songs. If you search for a specific group or artits you will see all their released albums and songs, in order of release date. It's really helpful and a easy way to discover new bands.

You must be from the 1940s? What a time to grow up with all those rockers from the 1950s. "It's nearly
impossible keeping up with the current performers", same. The only way I keep up is to listen to radio, otherwise I listen to music from the 50s/60s/70s. I always say the best music has already been made. I know it's not entirely true but I have enough to listen to with the music from the 60s and 70s alone!

To keep things short, any recommendations about what I shoud listen to, or how I should search for new music. And how do you look for new music? Thanks! I've found that searching for similar artists via last.fm can be helpful. Perform a search for an artist you like, and then click the "Similar Artists" tab:
Example for Ramones: www.last.fm/music/Ramones/+similar
You'll often get results for artists from the same era as well as current artists who have the same style.
