Haruki Murakami - only read Dance, Dance, Dance and gave up halfway. Boring drivel that goes nowhere.
Koji Suzuki - read the Ring trilogy. First was good, second was passable but disappointing, third was terrible.

Does Kazuo Ishiguro count?
I've read his An Artist of the Floating World. One of the dullest novels I've ever read.

I liked Murakami, but I've only read Hard Boiled Wonderland/End of the World. I've been meaning to read more of his stuff.

I've read novels by Junichiro Tanizaki, Yasunari Kawabata, Haruki Murakami, Yukio Mishima, Ryu Murakami, Kenzaburo Oe, and Osamu Dazai.
(In English translations, of course.)

Does Kazuo Ishiguro count? I've read his An Artist of the Floating World. One of the dullest novels I've ever read. Kazoo Ishiguro is a British author who writes all of his novels in English. Heck, he wrote Remains of the Day, which is one of the most British novels that I can think of. Despite their ethnic heritages, David Mitchell is a lot more literarily Japanese then Ishiguro is. The only Japanese novelists that I have read are Murakami and Koushun Takami (Battle Royale). I like the limited Murakami that I’ve read better than a lot of the folks on the old board did, but that is not exactly high praise. i would like to read something by Kobo Abe at some point. Natsume Soseki as well. Banana Yoshimoto, Kenzaburo Oe, and Yukio Mishima are also on my to-read list.

Just Murakami. I have a couple of books from other authors as well but haven't got around to reading them yet).
I have also read Kazuo Ishiguro, but I agree with the poster who said that he shouldn't count.
