I think most horror movies are stupid, dumb and not scary. Ahhh...I think that is more a popular opinion among non Horror fans who hate Horror movies and there is nothing wrong with disliking the genre (a number of my friends aren't fans of Horror movies like I am) but it is the same as me saying I don't like War and Western movies 'cause I find them boring.

Polanski's the Ninth Gate is better than Rosemary's Baby. Seed and Bride of Chucky are enjoyable horror comedy films. The Fog remake was good. I didn't mind 'The Fog' remake with Tom Welling either but I have to say it was kinda hard for me watching it the first time without expecting Tom to use his superpowers to save everybody even though I had watched the original movie 'cause I was so used to Tom being Clark Kent and I was thinking if he was Superman he would fix this in no time.

No, I like horror movies --- good horror movies. I just think "most" horror movies are stupid, dumb and not scary.

You make a good point about most Horror movies not being scary but then again I don't find any movies scary and I find it rather amusing that some people are afraid of any movies in general 'cause they are fake and aren't going to jump out of the screen and get you. There are far more scarier things to be afraid of in the real world than what is on a screen in a fictional universe where vampires, demons, monsters, werewolves, witches and zombies exist.

So I guess the situations wouldn't seem so threatening to me. And I see the lack of realism and logic in many horror movies. So I guess it takes more to impress and/or scare me.

Not sure if this is unpopular or not - The Conjuring was good. I think it’s popular. Pretty sure most people think it’s good. It has a high rating on IMDb. It’s mainly tr00 horror fans who think disliking mainstream horror movies makes them tr00er who dislike/hate it. I don't know about that. I don't like any of the James Wan movies, but I don't think that makes me any more of a horror fan, I just think his shit is lame.

Just because a horror movie is slow and boring and has no story that doesn't make it deep, intelligent, and insightful.
IT (2017) is a generic horror film filled with jump scares.
The Wailing could be one of the worst horror films I have ever seen.
The Blair Witch Project is a terrible movie and those who like it got so caught up in the hype they can't admit it was bad even though most people who defend it probably think it sucks.
Almost all zombie moves are the same with a few rare exceptions.

It's also too easy for me to see everything as fake (especially terrible CGI creatures) so there is some disconnect there. I'm not certain what it would take for a horror film to really scare me.

It is hard for me to identify with most horror movie victims. Their vulnerability seems contrived for effect. I don't believe most normal people are that stupid and hysterical. And then there is the lack of logic and realism that also makes it hard for me to identify with the possiblity any of this could actually happen. I have an imagination. I like sci-fi. Good sci-fi. But even good sci-fi has to have identifiable characters and a certain amount of realism and logic.

Jason X is the best Jason film The Lost Boys is way overrated and bar Echo & The Bunnymen, the soundtrack is shit Blair Witch Project deserved a "Special Oscar" Jigsaw and faux philosphy spouting dull horror villain Paranormal Activity is a pretty clever film at racking up tension

Hollow Man is a solid entry in the Invisible Man genre but Verhoeven should have been less restrained.

Jason X is the best Jason film Are you saying that 'cause you thought it was a good movie or 'cause Lexa Doig is hot?

So I guess the situations wouldn't seem so threatening to me. And I see the lack of realism and logic in many horror movies. So I guess it takes more to impress and/or scare me. Yeah. I can see why the lack of realism would be a problem for some people but I personally like the lack of realism in Horror just like I do with the superhero and fantasy genres and I love vampires, demons, monsters, werewolves, witches and zombies and the best Horror movies and stories in my opinion are the ones that don't hold back and are completely out there. I liked Jason in the 'Friday the 13th' movies even more when he came back in 6 as a zombie 'cause he got powers then and was stronger and faster and close to unstoppable and he looked like a monster when the mask came off and hardly anything hurt him. I never believed he was alive in the first few movies like some other people did though 'cause he drowned when he was a child and the things he survives in the first few movies were not humanly possible so when he comes back in 6 he goes from being dead to deader and a much bigger threat. While 'Jason Goes to Manhattan' was far from a great movie one of my favourite scenes in the 'Friday the 13th' movies was where he let a guy hit him on top of a roof and the guy wore himself out trying to hurt Jason and it did nothing to him and then when he told Jason to bring it on and it came his turn he knocked his head off with one punch.
With movies like 'Child's Play', 'Puppet Master' and 'Demonic Toys' they are about dolls and toys that are possessed by the spirits of people and demons and you need to have an open mind to enjoy those films 'cause they are very unrealistic and the only thing that really bothers me with realism in movies is when a movie claims to be realistic and set in a realistic world and it isn't and we have seen this with countless action movies with guys like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Segal, Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren where this one unstoppable hero takes down hundreds of villains all on his own and doesn't get a scratch on him and while I don't mind some of those movies when you have Steven Segal walking into buildings with 30 armed thugs and he takes them all down in less than a minute with his two hands it is extremely unrealistic. It is the same reason I disliked the 'Dark Knight' movies but have been a big fan of Batman for years and the movie would have been far more realistic with Bat Family members like Batgirl, Nightwing, The Spoiler, Red Robin, Orphan and Batwoman working with him for example but they made him an unrealistic over the top hero that could take them all down alone. My cousin is a Federal Police Officer and she said a real person wouldn't have survived the events of the first movie and there is a good reason why many of them don't pursue criminals alone.

I agree about many action movies. Almost always when there is a scene where one guy beats up 3 or more, if you notice, he only fights one at a time. The rest of the "bad guys" will line up and wait their turn. Your cousin could probably tell you, when police go up against a suspect who claims martial arts training, they just get more policemen to rush him/her all at once. Not one at a time. I have an imagination. I like sci-fi. Good sci-fi. I like super hero movies. I just don't like when they do things that don't make sense. Or are not consistent with logic, or cause and effect. If you like horror/suspense/action movies, have you ever seen "Hush"? It is available on Netflix. If you haven't seen it, it is better in my opinion than most horror/suspense/action movies. And others have said they like it. I won't say anymore until you tell me if you have seen it or not.

Any film directed by Larry Cohen should be approached with caution. Doubly so if Michael Moriarty is anywhere in the cast.

You know, aside from being an absolute shit actor who is embarrassing to watch. I will say though that Cohen/Moriarty did have the best Masters of Horror episode (Pick Me Up).

I couldn’t sit through Cube (1997), and I had to turn it off. Which I rarely do. Just grated on me big time.

I've only seen maybe 5 or 6 episodes, but I thought that one was really solid and sort of wished it had been expanded into a feature length film.

I really enjoy Jason X
I love Rob Zombie's Halloween
I think Rob Zombie is a great director and I really like his style.
I don't like Frankenstein (1931)
I think The Ring remake is utter crap
I think Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is a good sequel
