I'm probably one of the few people who never liked Batman TAS. In fact, now that I come to think of it, you’re the first person I’ve talked to who doesn’t like it! May I ask why not?

Voted
Batman:TAS, Justice League, X-men, Avengers EMH, and other
For Other, I really liked Brave and the Bold, Silver Surfer, and the sadly short lived Fantastic Four World’s Greatest Heroes

Didn't even know there was a Witchblade cartoon. Was it any good? It was alright, honestly.

Here's my top 5:
1. Batman: The Animated Series
What arguably got my generation (although it could be Batman 89) It's a damn good show with a great voice talent. Not only is Mark Hamill the best Joker but Kevin Conroy is easily the definite Batman ( In my opinion, obviously)
2. Batman Beyond
A great sequel to the Batman animated shows before it. It's something that I've always wanted to see adapted into live action.
3. Teen Titans
Great cast of characters and villains. It's unfortunate that it was replaced by that GO! garbage.
4. The Spectacular Spider-Man
Easily the best animated Spider-Man show. The fact that it got replaced with the abomination that was Ultimate Spider-Man makes even piss at Disney.
5. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Another victim to Disney reign of terror! A great show that featured an great storylines. It only lasted 2 seasons because Disney wanted to replaced it with the terrible Avengers Assemble show.
Shame that we never got to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline.

I'm probably one of the few people who never liked Batman TAS. In fact, now that I come to think of it, you’re the first person I’ve talked to who doesn’t like it! May I ask why not? Well a lot of it boiled down to personal preference. For example, I disliked the animation. I didn't like the blocky-style of art where men all had these V-shaped wedges for torsos and a square for a face. Women had these tiny bodies with big heads. I also felt that Batman made for a boring lead character. Other cartoon shows of that time like X-men or Spiderman or even TMNT focused a lot on the heroes and their attitudes and personalities and development, etc. In contrast, I felt that Batman's actions were too dependent on his weekly villain. The driving force of the story was whom Batman was fighting, not Batman himself. Outside of the villains and his interactions with them, Batman just felt like this stoic bore. I mean, I get that that's how Batman is supposed to be, but it never really endeared me to his character. Sure there was some character development in there, and the episodes where they showed more of his human side were my favorite episodes, but compared to other shows there just weren't that many. X-men was specifically good at developing interpersonal relationships, and I always felt that was lacking in Batman TAS. You'll see that I compare X-men and Batman TAS a lot but it's only because these were the two shows I watched very close to each other and thus ended up being compared in my brain. I also started getting used to the longer story arcs of shows like X-men and Dragonball, where a story arc spanned multiple episodes. Batman had a bit of that but mostly still followed the weekly villain fight formula. Then there's the fact that most of the show was done night time. I mean, it was cool seeing nighttime scenes in a cartoon, but for a 10 year old kid it became a bit dreary when episode after episode was a night scene.

Thanks for that, Skaathar . I love the show, but I understand your criticisms and appreciate your taking the time to offer me reasons for your disliking it; I recently asked another guy to explain his reasons for liking a much-hated movie, and he responded mostly with “I don’t know—it’s been a long time since I saw it”! Again, thanks.

I’m a child of the late 80s-early 90s so...
TMNT ‘87 Batman TAS Spider-Man TAS XMen TAS Teen Titans
The first four I watched while growing up. Teen titans I was mostly exposed to because I had young siblings in the early 2000s but being a fan of comics my whole life it piqued my interest.

That's manga, man. Totally different. You are correct, but I think for this purpose the heroic saga told through printed visuals transformed into a serial animation that shapes childhood wonder is the common theme. Dragon Ball (largely the most far reaching and accessible in the states within its genre in its time, no?) acted in the same way as Batman TAS for me. Both shows led me to read their source material later on. 🤷♂️ I was being a bit sarcastic. The only manga I've read are Junji Ito (horror) and the run of Mob Psycho 100. There is a good video on why Dragon Ball works so well as a manga that I watched: But honestly, if manga was included, there would be too many great shows to pick from. Hunter X Hunter, Death Note, Mob Psycho 100, My Hero Academia, and so forth... there are a lot of great shows I'd actually say were better than DBZ despite its prominence in the states.

Justice League Unlimited Superman:The Animated Series Young Justice Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes
YJ was very different from the comic, but I loved the 'toon's take on Guardian (what a badass armored costume!) and Cadmus.
I wish they could have gave us Blue Beetle in JLU, but I liked seeing all of the less than A-Listers ( B'wanna Beast ffs) I really liked their take on Green Arrow and Question; disliked that they made Captain Atom basically a metalic baloon suit. Wish there would have been a Detroit Era centric episode
Never missed Spidey and his amazing friends on Saturday morning
I am still irritated that Marvel scrapped the wonderful, well written and animated A:EMH for the crappy to mediocre Avengers Assemble

I'm surprised that TMNT didn't get a lot of votes. Especially since it's adored by many.

Out of those choices I would say 'Spawn', 'Witchblade', 'Spider-Man (1994), 'X-Men' (1992) and 'Batman: The Animated Series' and some others I liked that you might not know about were 'The Mask', 'Josie and the Pussycats', 'Sabrina the Animated Series', 'Casper', 'The New Casper Cartoon Show', 'Casper and the Angels' and 'The Batman.'

I picked the four oldest choices: The Marvel Super Heroes (1966) Spider-Man (1967) Super Friends (1973) Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends (1981) Marvel Super Heroes was my exposure. I was 6. I don't remember if I watched the show because I read the comics or if I read the comics because of the show, but it was basically a comic book. It worked for my 6 yr old brain that it basically was comic book panels with the mouths moving or a cut-out shield flying at baddies. But Cap & Thor are still my favorite heroes. There was another I didn't see. So I remember the Aquaman show, but I probably also watched at least the Superboy show. Its like I remember the commercials leading into The Beatles cartoons, but I can't remember actual episodes like I do The Flintstones or whole impressions of episodes like Marvel Super Heroes I would have been 13 for Superfriends, but I dont remember that one so I can't say I watched it. I do not recall which of the Spidey shows I watched.

There are a lot more animated shows based on comic books than people realise and let's not forget all the Archie and Peanuts cartoons along with Richie Rich, Dennis the Menace, Popeye, Dilbert, The Addams Family, Flash Gordon and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
