Tom Chelimsky and his sister Kathy Chelimsky were American children who each appeared in childhood with Audrey Hepburn in a Stanley Donen film in the 1960's.Tom played Jean-Louis in Charade and Kathy was in "Two for the Road" Each appeared only in one film; neither pursued a career as an actor. They both became physicians (in the U.S.) - He is a noted Neurologist and Professor in Cleveland, Ohio [January 2005] As of 2011, professor and chairman of the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
How did these kids happen to be chosen to be in these films ? Tom was an American child but he was cast as a French boy in Charade but "Thomas Chelimsky was dubbed by a French woman." (edit this was IMDb "trivia" … now de-bunked !) What is the story behind all this ?

On it, BATouttaheck! Vanity Fair piece on the subject here, but it doesn’t mention anything about the dubbing. In fact, I don’t see anything about the dubbing online or much about Kathy, and I’m starting to think that the dubbing doesn’t seem accurate: Donen specifically cast Chelimsky because he could speak English with a French accent. Another piece on Thomas. Sorry I couldn’t find more, Bat.

Nalkarj PERFECT-A-Mento ! Answers the questions to my total satisfaction ! archive.jsonline.com/entertainment/movies/now-a-medical-professor-50-years-ago-he-was-in-charade-b99155478z1-234533161.html/jervistetch was the inspiration for the question and may also enjoy reading the article!
Thanks too for the link to the VF article. Unfortunately, Vanity Fair seems to think that I have read too many of their words of wisdom for FREE and refuses to let me see more. All that I was able to view was the photo and a couple of lines from the article. Funnily enough, I have never been to their website before ! The "trivia" about the dubbing comes from IMDb but that is notoriously hit and miss about accuracy. Before the gate slammed shut I did see the mention that young Tom STARRED in Charade ! Rather like Walter Brennan (in an uncredited role of "man with bicycle" performed at the very start of his career) has been mentioned on-line as being FEATURED in The Invisible Man. Thanks again !

NalkarjThe gate crasher worked ! Another interesting article. It's odd that the only thing that really bothered me about Tom's performance was his "fake French accent" and yet it was genuine and had to be purged when he came to the states. Glad / sad (take your pick) that this didn't turn into another SLEUTHing quest !
