Two of my local grocery chains have posted "Closeout" stickers on the Campbell's Homestyle Soups, which means they're selling the last of the stock on hand and won't be stocking it anymore. I'm shocked: that's been one of my all-time favorite "go-to" soup labels for years now.
I checked online, and saw no indication that Campbell's is discontinuing that line of soups, though... So, I'm hoping it's just these two chains (both of which are Kroger owned) that are doing a closeout. If that's the case, then I'll simply shop for it at other stores, if need be.
But in the meantime I stocked up on a dozen cans of the Chicken & Brown Rice variety, and 4 cans of their Clam Chowder soup. Their Chicken Noodle is quite good, too. I will try to stock up on some of that soon.

I hope not, WKD likes the chicken noodle . I eat mostly Progresso Soup but I do like the Campbell's Slow Kettle Style Portobello Mushroom & Madeira Bisque. I used to like Campbell's Scotch Broth but I haven't seen that in years.

I used to like Campbell's Scotch Broth but I haven't seen that in years. I've been a fan of the Scotch Broth for years. And yes, it all but disappeared off of American store shelves here some years ago. Luckily I've been able to find it up in Canada. I grab a few cans whenever I'm up visiting my sister, who lives in Vancouver.
(Pepper Pot Soup was another one they made, years ago. It, too, has vanished.)

...speaking of Scotch Broth, years ago, I called the Campbell's 800 number to ask about one of my all time favorite soups availability. They asked me for my zip code...which I gave, and they provided the nearest grocer that stocked it...the store was about 85 miles from my home. I have now been living without it. I will not travel that distance to get a couple cans of soup even though I love that soup...

I couldn't find the other one, and I can't recall the source. Campbell's stock is down, and the company may go up for sale. The article below says that they'll make a final assessment in August (which is now). If stores are doing "closeout" sales, I suppose that could mean that they've received advanced word that the end may be near. The only Campbell's soup that I have purchased, for several years, is Golden Mushroom Soup, because it it's one of those easy "add-a-can-of" ingredients. I've mostly used it for tuna casserole. I guess I'd better check for any sales, in this area. money.cnn.com/2018/08/01/investing/campbell-soup-dan-loeb-third-point/index.html

divtal: it's hard to conceive of the store shelves one day being without such an iconic brand and product as Campbell's soup! I'm hoping that if they *do* get bought out, that the new owner won't arbitrarily disband all the soups they offer. But, you never know. The "bottom line" and the almighty dollar speak volumes in the business world, so, we shall see.
[...heading off to the store now to stock up on yet a few more cans of Campbell's soups, just in case. lol]

...hmmm...on another level, SBC purchased AT&T and then re assumed the AT&T name because of international brand recognition...

I went to a nearby Safeway store last night to check out their soup aisle: it seems there was ample supply of the Campbell's Homestyle soups, with no indication that it was going to be closed out or discontinued. They were selling it for full price (3 bucks a can - ouch), so I decided to go back to one of the Kroger-owned stores to see if there was any more on the closeout shelf (they were selling it at $1.74 a can - a pretty good bargain for the 18.6 ounce cans). I was in luck: they did, so I picked up a few more cans.

I doubt very much that Campbells would stop making it.

I find it very hard to believe that Campbell's might be going "out of business"... The company is well known and even if the CEO & Shareholders want to jump ship, someone else will come along, and continue the line... Seriously, if can't imagine that "SO MANY" people have stopped eating their soups for this to happen... So, someone will buy it an continue the company brand...
WITH THAT SAID...
In the past, I have seen SPECIFIC store chains discontinue products for one reason or another, while OTHER store chains will continue selling the products or some will even start selling the products.
This has happened to me many times. That is why I now always shop at more than one store. I want to buy these products!
Sadly, many stores discontinue these items, because, they claim they want to sell NEW merchandise.
Honestly, in my opinion, the NEW merchandise sucks! I don't understand why anyone would get rid of such well known products, such as a Box of Cheerios (For a Hypothetical Example), to make room for Whole Grain Spaghetti O's and Lime flavored Doritos...
But I see it all the time...
But, for those Brick 'N Mortar stores wondering why so many customers have now turned to shopping on line, at places like Amazon...
This is exactly the reason why...
If we can't find it locally, then we will shop elsewhere to get the products we love.

I doubt very much that Campbells would stop making it. Well, from what I've been reading, I feel I have good cause to doubt it. Their sales and profitability have been slumping lately, and they have those pesky things called shareholders to answer to. So how do they improve their bottom line? By cutting something, of course. So, it could be a case where they've found that the Homestyle soup line just isn't selling as well as their other condensed soups, or their Campbell's "Chunky" variety. So my fear was that maybe they've decided to put the Homestyle variety on the chopping block.
But so far, so good: it looks like other stores still carry it. I guess it's just a Kroger thing, knock on wood.
