...and they are generally positive. So that must mean it sucks. Twitter is weird.

"Jaws reboot"?
Was it stated by the producers/directors that this is a Jaws reboot? If not than I don't agree that any film ever made involving killer sharks is a Jaws reboot.

Seen it, was fun popcorn movie with LOTS of chinese stars. Its more Deep Blue Sea than Jaws, cool effects but atrocious acting. 5/10. IMAX 3D was worth the price.

The special effects are above standard. Looks like a 150 million budget movie.

It's not a Jaws reboot.

I’m so tired of people calling The Meg a jaws remake. It’s based on a novel called The Meg. Yes it’s another shark movie. Do people call Sharknado a jaws remake? No so don’t call The Meg a jaws remake.

No so don’t call The Meg a jaws remake. This is actually the first I heard of this. A quick google search shows that it's based off of a book!

It's absolutely nothing to do with Jaws, the only connection between them is that they're both about a shark. You might as well claim that Gorillas in the Mist is a reboot of King Kong. Meg is based on a book - and not the book Jaws, lol.

Some of the cast was all-time bad in their lines of delivery; can we stop making Ruby Rose a thing? Felt kind of odd for the first 30-40 minutes, like it didn't know what tone it wanted to be and the jokes failed pretty bad. Still tried to draw some emotion here and there after that mark that didn't really work, but the 2nd and 3rd acts are better. Good direction, felt a tad lacking in the "violent" scenes.
Statham and Rainn were awesome. Love the money shots they had. Delivered on Statham vs a Shark.
