The top of this batting lineup for England is just brutal. Jennings is not the answer. Last eight matches, only scored <30 three times with no 50s. Average of 23.16. Today was made for Pope to make a statement, and he couldn't do the business.

One thing I will say about Bob's post is that while I agree 100% that you should pick your best 6 bats a keeper and 4 bedt bowlers, I think Butler is easily one of the best 6 bats in England at the moment, as he showed yesterday.

There is annoying gap of 8 days and then we go to Southampton. I wonder if Rose Bowl is a tradition Test venue or was recently added.
Bumrah has some pace! I didn't know that.

"Believe me, that's the best bouncer I've seen in a long, long time.": Holding, on Bumrah's snorter to dismiss Woakes.

First Test match in Southampton was 2011.

I hope England's top four have the decency to be ashamed that a couple of bowlers scored more than them in that second innings.

2011 was first time they played a Test in Southampton? Well that;s why I can hardly recognise it. I do remember other formats played in Southampton.

Vince back in. I realize he's just injury cover for Bairstow, but my God.

India say they'll target Bairstow's broken finger if he plays. Stay classy.

i expect a big daddy hundred from COOK in this test.

I'll settle for a single ton from any of the England top four.

I also predict Ali will flop with the bat.
