So Disney is going to make a Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3, this is undoubtedly. But the question is, who should step in and take over as director?
The chances of Gunn returning is slimmed, no matter how many sign that petition. So obviously they're going to have to get some one else, so only idea on who you would like to see?

Well if it ain't Gunn, The Russo's seemed to handle them well enough in Infinity War. Taika Waititi also seems like an obvious choice. Though wouldn't be surprised if a name that isn't well known is attached to the film - the MCU have managed it a few times and it's mostly worked out

They sure can make the film if they want to but, that doesn't mean anyone will go to see it. There's already a growing movement to boycott the film. MCU fans have been an impressive economic force when it comes to supporting the franchise. Disney should consider what it would be like if we withheld that support.
I think they should scrap vol 3.

Nah. They may talk big, but we'll all still go see it. Some no doubt just to bitch about how much it sucks without Gunn, not realizing they're still pouring money into its box office.

I'm not sure if they'll go the route of cancelling GOTG 3. Feige wanted phase 4 to be cosmic base and a Guardians film obviously works for that direction.

Sure, many will go to see the film if it is made but, I think the brand ambassadors and hardcore fans will sit it out making the margins less profitable on this third installment. It's the perfect episode to boycott without damaging another future installment or the franchise as a whole. Whether you like his vision or not, it's really quite singular. Anyone who directs a third installment will need to embrace it fully or go in a completely different direction. There is no middle ground. The former will seem derivative and unoriginal and the latter could be just as easily rejected without the right director. I know I personally don't have much interest in seeing a vol. 3 that isn't consistent with Gunn's artistic vision. Maybe if he endorsed the new director who comes on board assuring us that they've spoken and she or he understands the material... As it is now, Disney can't allow that. I'm just saying the ideas is out there. And if SW fans can pull a Solo, MCU fans/ambassadors could bring this franchise to it knees in a much more horrific way.

But making a sequel to 2 movies directed by the scumbag pedophile Gunn and starring a cast that publicly supported that scumbag pedophile is going to keep the controversy going and will probably led to big protests and even boycotts of the movie. In fact, Disney should not only cancel GotG3 but retcon the first 2 GotG movies out of MCU like they never existed. There's already precedent for that with the Terminator movies.

That would be equivalent to a candidate running for POTUS getting endorsed by the KKK or by a group of neo-Nazis.

My point is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should be cancelled instead of helmed by another director who will no doubt wish to put her/his own creative stamp on the franchise. This is not a situation like Thor. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a far more cohesive franchise with a unique and vibrant musical signature. Thanks for input. RIP - Guardians of the Galaxy.

I doubt Disney going to cancel it. The previous films made money so I fully expect them to make a third. They'll probably throw away Gunn script and hire a new screenwriter.

There's going to be a boycott, no doubt about that. But it's not going to be done by who YOU think it will be.

Why do you keep calling James Gunn a pedophile? All he did was make a bunch of jokes centered around rape and pedophilia. All were in poor taste, but that's all he did. Stop calling him a pedophile.

Taika Waititi is currently the best option they have to take over GOTG3. At least we already know what he's capable of after Ragnarok. Just depends on whether he can split his time between doing more Thor movies and GOTG3.

Didn’t he make nasty jokes basically about everything and those ones just happened to be most publicized ones?

No they shouldn't cancel it, nor should they retcon the first two movies out of the MCU like they never existed - which is an idiotic concept given how tied they were to what they were building towards in Infinity War. They can easily find another director to take over. And again, WHERE is the evidence that Gunn is exactly what you say he is? Inappropriate jokes is not proof.

Gunn was fired and is unlikely to be re-hired, they can easily find another director and make another movie with the same cast - none of who have objected to the notion of another person sitting in the director's chair but who are supportive of a friend of theirs. And again - WHERE IS THE PROOF that James Gunn is exactly what you describe him as? He made a string of bad jokes but that's it.

A new director will get an opinion on what the prior filmmaker feels about them stepping in no matter when, where, or who is asking the question.
