Not illegal, but banished from the public square and making of laws. ^^^THIS^^^ Religion belongs in the church and home and nowhere else. In a country where there is "supposedly" freedom of religion no political leader should impose his or her religion on everyone as if it were a state religion or federal law. We don't all believe the same thing. We don't vote religious leaders. We vote political leaders. If you want religion go to church.
It's idiotic to ban something that is public from the public. That's the same as calling it illegal. People should man up and stick to their own ideals rather than spend time trying to shackle a right. Religions don't make laws in non-sucky countries so the best solution to that is to leave a sucky country.

When Nixon wrote banished I thought he meant he wished it wouldn't be there, not that he would impose a law to get rid of it. To be clear I don't think we should impose a law against religion. I just wish people who are religious would understand that their religion, no matter which one it is, doesn't belong in politics, or the public school system, etc.
Everyone has the right to worship as they see fit, so its unfair to impose ONE religion on everyone.
