I would want to be a hobbit living in The Shire. They seem like such a peaceful people who just want to relax and enjoy the little things in life. Well except for maybe those damn Sackville-Bagginses

If I couldn't be myself and had to be another species I'd love to be a pampered and well cared for cat.

Gallifreyan. A Humanoid species from the planet Gallifrey, in the Constellation of Kasterberous, at the coordinates of ten-zero-eleven-zero-zero by zero-two from Galactic Zero Centre. Or at least it used to be...
Their life cycle involves the ability to regenerate 12 times, which means they get to live a minimum of 13 lives.
They have a life span measured in thousands of years or more, unless they live a very active and dangerous lifestyle.

I would also be a house cat but I would need the freedom to go outside and maybe get spanked by my owner on occsssion.

Not for my cat. She'd probably get run over in the parking lot and she's declawed. I think it's animal abuse to spay and neuter cats but especially to declaw them. Don't you see the unnatural state of locking a cat indoors when you have to rip their claws out of their paws to protect your couch? When I was a kid we had indoor/outdoor cats and never declawed them. Sure there is a risk they'll get hit by a car or mauled by a dog. But what price freedom? Nothing to do with me. I got her from a shelter and she was already declawed.

Nothing to do with me. I got her from a shelter and she was already declawed. Another reason why declawing is a form of animal abuse. Fools abandon their pets and then they're completely defenseless. The former caretaker didn't abandon her. She had dementia and had to go into a nursing home. She couldn't care for herself or the cat (who she believed was a dog).

Kitty was up shit creek without a paddle. Not really all that funny. Eating dog food for probably over a year gave her digestive system issues and maybe played a part in her being a diabetic.

Oh please Miss Thaaang, I'm not making of light of the woman's dementia or kitty's plight. When I was a kid we had one old cat we called Granny. She left home one day to escape her progeny, lived in the wild, and would only return occasionally to visit us and say hi. She had her claws. I didn't mean it that way. I know it does sound like a pretty ridiculous situation.
