Glen or Glenda 1953 A film within a film, or is it a film within a film within a film? Wildly incoherent and jumbled, the type of movie a schizophrenic might make. Lugosi is superfluous but his role as a kind of omnipotent observer is intriguing, as is the surreal marriage sequence with the devil. The film is padded out with completely out of context stock footage of a metalworks and charging bison, because that's all Wood could find as filler to get the running up to par. I often cite this as the worst movie ever made. I think it has more right to the title than Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Jail Bait 1954 All I remember of this crime drama is it being extremely banal and a drag (no pun intended) to sit through.
Bride of the Monster 1955 A more natural role for Lugosi, and an awesome premise of a madman creating a race of atomic supermen in the jungles of Florida. Due to budget constraints, we don't actually get an army of atomic supermen, of course. We do get the redoubtable Tor Johnson crashing into the set and almost bringing it down, though.
The movie's best part is the risible ending, which is completely inept and yet thoroughly enjoyable.
Night of the Ghouls 1958 Not released until the 1980s, this is an underrated gem of his catalogue in my opinion. Conman rips off people by pretending to contact their dead loved ones, only to summon up real ghosts. There's a sense of fun and some macabre touches.
Plan 9 From Outer Space 1959 I've always said it's impossible to make a film this bad also be this enjoyable. There's a certain charm to all the ineptitude, and so many classic lines and scenes that can be quoted and watched over and over again. I still wouldn't give it 10/10 like some people do, but it's entertaining for sure.
The Sinister Urge Another dull and drab crime drama involving a dead woman and the porn business. It's easier to sit through than Jail Bait, but doesn't provide much in the way of entertainment.
Orgy of the Dead 1965 Lame excuse to showcase a bunch of strippers performing. There's nothing much in the way of story except a very bare bones framing.
