You live your life and give back, too! Many of the people who come to Australia to study have to study as well as work for paying their University tuitions. As such many students are not able to study well because they have very little time. I try to help such students because if they fail in any subject they have to pay a very high fee to repeat those subjects. Many of these students come to me before exams or before submitting any assignment. In 2016 I used to be a teacher and earn my living from teaching. But then I got into another job. But on Saturdays and Sundays I still continue to teach if anyone asks for my help. Most of the students whom I used to teach in past send their friends to me. It also adds to my knowledge as I am myself on path to attain certification of Chartered Financial Analyst.

It also adds to my knowledge as I am myself on path to attain certification of Chartered Financial Analyst. Many years ago when I got my college education, I, too, had to work to make that happen. I tutored children with reading problems, and cleaned the apartments of the college athletes when they were home on summer break. (Wow, athletes can be very messy!) That money was hard-earned! Later, when I had acquired other professional skills, like photography, I trained two different photographers that worked at a small local newspaper on how to shoot sporting events. I've always shared knowledge with younger ones coming up, for no fee, and always found that I learned something too, in the process. When I was a freelance illustrator for a greeting card company, we freelancers all helped each other out even though, technically, we were competing for the available illustration projects. Giving back to others is always a positive activity for both the giver and receiver. My dad was a skilled carpenter, among other things, and I learned much from him. I wish I could find a secular version of "Habitat for Humanity" that I could volunteer for, and make affordable housing for disadvantaged families. I am always helping my friends on do-it-yourself projects like household repairs. And then, of course, is my involvement in humane animal rescue. I've been fostering homeless and abused animals for decades, and donating my art and marketing skills to raise funds for that. My basic philosophy has always been lessening the suffering of sentient beings in the here and now, and helping others to be able to improve their lives.

I use Linux operating system which is a very secure and totally free operating system. It has been possible to make this freeware only because of knowledge sharing that many people chose to do on voluntary basis. As they say 'sharing is caring'. The best form of sharing is knowledge sharing. It costed you just a bit of time to teach someone something but the other person acquires an important wealth in form of human capital, which almost never depletes.
Great to know about your animal rescue works. Father Jack (another poster here) also devotes his time to such causes.

I did not know about Father Jack; I'll have to contact him, I'm sure we will have some stories to tell! Sharing is caring, no doubt about that!

Edit: I know I've mentioned one of the things I do; volunteer time to bottle-feed baby kittens that otherwise would die, work towards ethical treatment of all animals and of course my environmental concerns. If I'm honest, it's mostly masturbation.
