Whatever they buy, you have to buy something bigger. Wherever they go on vacation, you've got to outdo them.

Never. I was always jealous of the boy I grew up with because he always got everything he ever wanted, unfortunately for me I was brought up well enough that I never touched his stuff unless he brought it up first, which wasn't often because he was a spoiled brat.

No, and I feel sorry for people who are. Your friend buys something expensive so you feel you HAVE to outspend them? OK, it's your money, you can waste it however you want.

Two Thumbs Down to people who do that crap. I can't be around those kinds of people as you can't really just talk to them without it feeling like some competition which I dislike. like if you don't really feel comfortable talking to someone I just tend to avoid them. I only buy stuff if I want it, and never so I can go to someone and go on-and-on about how great it is etc. like I might casually bring up some stuff I buy to others here and there if the occasion arises but it's not in some competitive way and if they got some comments I listen to them etc and don't blow them off. plus, I mostly get into general computer tech stuff (and the like) and I tend to buy stuff more around bang-for-the-buck standards and avoid most of that high $ tech as it's overpriced and generally ain't that much better than the reasonably priced stuff (basically those who buy the high end tech, for the most part, are suckers (or they just have a ton of money to burn)). so unless one has money to burn, many will think similar enough to myself. most recently I got a hold of a 'Intel 545s 128GB SSD' for only $31.99 (which I put into my 10 year old laptop (which is my backup computer to my primary PC) and I installed Linux Mint v19 on it(things load up noticeably faster now and there is no moving parts in it either)) which is a great buy at that price as at it's normal price (i.e. $50-ish, currently it's in the low $50's for the exact same SSD)) it's simply too expensive for that little of storage space as for around $50-55, for not much more you can get the 250GB range SSD's etc. basically I don't feel comfortable buying those 120-128GB range SSD's for more than around $30 which for about that price your largely stuck to generic brands which are simply not worth buying as the quality control is a bit suspect where as with the Intel one I got that's a quality SSD straight up as it's got a 5 year warranty and is rated for 72TB of writes which, to skip the details, means it's going to last a long time (and it's speed is competitive with the high end SSD's in it's class (basically the general measuring stick/standard for SATA based(most common type of connection in computers) SSD's seems to be the Samsung 860 EVO (was the 850 EVO(which I got in my main computer) for years until fairly recently) as it's fast and reasonably priced as other brands generally have to noticeably beat it's price otherwise your best off getting the Samsung 860 EVO for the most part. but SSD brands like Samsung/Crucial/Intel etc you can't really go wrong with as they are quality). but for the common person, if they do much more than basic internet on it, I would suggest getting the 250GB(roughly $70-75 or so) or 500GB (roughly $100-120) range of SSD's instead as they tend to be the sweet spot for most people right now. like if one plays games, 250GB is THE minimum but 500GB is basically what you want as while you can get larger SSD's (like 1TB and larger) the price really starts to shoot up and they lose their appeal for many people at that point. because 500GB or so is enough for those who play games on their computers and if one needs more general storage space I recommend getting a standard hard drive as you can get 2TB(2000GB) of space for only $50 or for 4TB(4000GB) only about $100 or so. ill end the novel here
